I'm wondering if anyone is excited to see Lucy when she comes to the States. She's probably the biggest superstar archeology has got. I'm impressed it was Houston that managed to get her tour started. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15401398/
Granted, it isn't exactly visually startling. But the bones of a 3 million year old ancestor (if you believe in that stuff) of ours? I think that's intellectually pretty cool. Lucy is something so rare, it's like seeing Hally's comet or something. For ten bucks (or whatever it is). I thought the humanists around here would be more excited. I guess I should have put it in the D&D so people could argue about evolution, again.
I wonder how much I'd be worth when our specie is long gone and some new evolutionized descendants of ours find my skeletal remains..
It is impressive. A lot of folks don't know how influential HMNS is. Houston truly has an excellent museum district. I used to work there in my early 20's. It was really eye-opening what they're able to do/get done, and what projects they always seem to have a hand in. I'm proud of 'em.
I will go. I am a member, so I will get a discount even if it is after 6 p.m., when the price is lower. Yes. You may not enter with photographic equipment. If they catch you with a cameraphone taking photos, and believe me they will, they will confiscate your cell phone without argument. I saw this happen ONE TIME when I saw "The Human Body".
I wanna see Lucy. Unfortunately, I've been pretty let down by the crappy exhibits I've seen recently at the museum-- Ben Franklin and Rome. Holy God those were garbage.
