We could all find something to complain about with tonight's game. You could blame Rudy's coaching. Some may choose to put it on the shoulders of Cat for the timing of his bad judgment. It could have been Willis's butter fingers at times or even Francis not taking over as a "super-star" in the "crunch time". Maybe the refs should actually study the rule book before games, and Cato....well that was a very disappointing effort. However, this a pretty good Laker combo of Shaq and Kobe and they are playing well as a team. The Rockets are not there yet as a team to expect a victory over the league's best. That was one hell of an effort they put out (with the exception of you know who), and I am very proud of them for leaving it all on the court. They were down and but never out. Although they were not perfect, I blame Cat and Willis for keeping us in the game. Steve is the best point guard in the west now that Kidd is in the east. How many rebounds did this guy have? How many double-doubles should the point guard get? I did my coaching from the TV just like others, but remember that they did put up a great fight!!! Rocket Fan for life!!!!! lights out...
Thank you, well said. We put up a great fight against the best team in the league and lost by 1 in OT. Could've been better, but you can't ask for too much more.
Is hitting your lay-ups too much to ask? Is scoring on a 5 on 2 fast break too much to ask? I really really think we would've won the game if we just simply did that.
Not too much ask for, but that being said, stupid things happen when you play the game. I'm sure the Lakers weren't a beacon of offensive and defensive precision tonight, we just focus on everything the rockets do wrong. Believe me, I almost fell out of my chair when the 5 on 2 resulted in nothing. I literally didn't believe I had seen it. I mean missed layup, missed follow, and then 3 people by themselves and one person knocks if from the other to set up a fast break the other way. Sometimes I think on this board I give the impression I'm more okay with the loss than I really am. The board seems to mellow me when I post. I'm sitting here cursing everything they do when I watch the game, and back when I lived in Houston and could watch all the games losing was even more unbearable. But when I post I realize bad things happen and when you lose to great teams by one in OT you sometimes just have to say, could I really have expected more. Losing by only 1 in OT before the game would've sounded like we played great, but then the game comes and you remember every little thing that went wrong so it seems worse than it was. That's all I mean by you can't ask for too much more.
Home court loses are unacceptable, PERIOD !!! If you expect to get to the playoffs, there can be no satisfaction from losing at home to a good team. 2 games at home this year to good teams, and we choked in both of them, a very bad sign. DaDakota
I am the same way, but after reading some post that go way over board, I feel a need to post some of the positives. Too much of anything can be bad. I get so tired of coming to the BBS and reading all negatives about the team we "love" to support. I know we play our TV coaching and virtual GM, but dang does everything has to be so negative? As stated, I am very sure the Lakers didn't do everything right and they are 7-0 defending world champs!

I like to play optimist, but I've done my fair share of b****ing as well. I was looking forward to tonights fame for the simple reason that we give LA problems like no one else seems to. I can't say that I expected to win, but I did expect to give them a run for their money, at the very least. We did just that, and I'm happy with that, but of course the win would have been oh so sweet. Bone-headed plays are usually due to one thing: inexperience. Cat and Steve aren't rookies, but they've only been in the league for 4 and 3 years respectively, and Cuttino only saw one playoff round of a screwed up, locked out season. Like I said in an earlier thread, yes I'm excited about the Rockets now, but what I'm really looking forward to is in 2-3 years when Cat and Steve are starting to enter their prime years and our rookies are living up to their potential. The only thing I'm worried about now is getting sorry performances from Cato. And how about KENNY THOMAS?? I love this guy!
I hate losing as much as the next guy, but these were the world champions people! Champions take advantage of ever little mistake people make, especially a young team. Homecourt or not I was impressed with this game tonight, especially with a great deal of people on this BBS predicting the Lakers by 20 and 30 or saying that the Rockets didn't belong on the same court with the Lakers. I can live with this loss if it wakes the Rockets up and they go on a run the next few weeks.
The Rockets may be the best 2nd half team in the league. We did not win, but I can't call it choking. Phil Jackson seemed upset at the refeferees, but I think they got the benefit of many no calls-no fouls and travelling by Shaq and Lord Bryant. We played with a lot of heart and kept trying. I am very proud of my team for doing that. I realize that ZRB ' s point about this being unaccdeptable to lose at home is valid. I respect that viewpoint, but I'm so glad we did not get blown out. I was at the game in Sect 103-where there were many Lakers fans. I am an old ass basturd, but the adult Laker fans my age were very rude screaming Rockets Sucks, and Steve Francis "blows". I was enjoying a very good game that I'm sure the Laker fans assumed would be a blow out. They seemed mad because the Rockets made it a game-overtime at that. I can't read mob psychology, but I was very proud of my team. Go underdog Rockets!!!! Scare the Western Powers- they will fear us and dread coming to Laptop!!
Home court losses can only be unacceptable if you have a HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. Playing at Compaq is rarely a home court advantage. It's not a coincidence that the Rockets sucked at home last year while also having the worst attendance in the league. Besides, I think most people on the board have unrealistic expectations for this Rocket team. They basically have the best backcourt in the league, and NOTHING else. It's hard to win like that, and the Rockets do a pretty good job considering. They miss Mo.
