RIP Eddie, you were my favorite player when you played for us. Loved the line-drive 3-pointer. You will be missed

Not sure if anyone saw Fox 26's repot tonight....

EG for the last month had been working with Calvin Murphy on a serious attempt at a comback. Murph stated that EG showed no signs of alcohol or substance abuse as he had trimmed down and looked in excellent shape. Apparently, it looked like his next shot would have come in Denver.

Murph also stated that on last Wednseday, EG was late for a session with Murph. When Murph called to check up on him, he stated "He would be there" but Murph states that he suddenly sounded "distant." He never showed. Murph didnt think anything of the "distant" response from EG until after hearing the news.

For someone who was on the combeack trail to then suddenly go "distant," perhaps EG recieved some really bad news that he just couldnt handle...

Whatever the circumstances maybe, doesnt matter......RIP Eddie Griffin.

thanks for the info. even if he was sober for the last month or more and on the right path, it's fairly easy to fall right back off the wagon. i doubt he hung around with the kind of people who fully supported his sobriety and just one night of indulgence can erase a month of that hard work.

    just a sad story.

Theres no way to discredit this theory because we have no idea if Griffin did or didn't know information. We still are not sure if Tim Donaghy is the only referee involved, or if any players were included.

This theory fuels the fire because Stern has been questioned for years for things like fixing the '85 draft, NBA finals, suspending players different amounts of games, and the list goes on!

Not only that, but he has done nothing for the NBA as a business standpoint that can be respected. Other than riding the wave of the great players in the 90s and capitalizing on Yao Ming's asian market, which any blind person could have done. The WNBA is enough proof to show he has no idea what hes doing.

This does not necessarily mean David Stern is sitting in an office calling shots and having people murdered, but it does not rule out the possibility that he has some ties in some way or another to the mafia. If you have been following the Tim Donaghy scandel lately, David Stern has been handling it in a very odd manner that could very well put his job security into question.

Interesting site that talks about him - http://basketbawful.blogspot.com/2007/08/1984-nba-finals-david-sterns-first.html

Will there be any services or anything of that sort? Also, I'd be interested to see how any of his former teammates are taking this. Love him or hate him, I think it's really unfair when people make fun of the guy even in his death. Poor taste.

Eddie Griffin, Child Of God. A cognizant being with a mortal body and an immortal Soul. For 25 years you have touched our lives here on the planet upon which we dwell, you are gone now but not forgotten. May God in His Divine Mercy take you to His Most Most Sacred Heart.

I'd rather be a "tool" or a "douche" than an insincere, fare-weather, philistine like a lot of you people on here. I guarantee that if a poll was taken a month ago as to what all of you thought about Griffin you all would have bashed him, but now that his worthless a$$ is deceased everyone wants to love on him. It makes me sick.

You're a piece of ****. If it would bring Eddie back I would replace your worthless carcass in that SUV.

You can just as easily say nothing rather than tarnish a man who for all intents and purposes cannot defend himself. I don't love the guy, far from it, but there is no doubt in my mind that this is in fact tragic whether it be predictable or not, deserved or not, justice or injustice. Nobody deserves to die at 25, nobody. For those of us who are in fact "loving him because he's dead" maybe thats how we deal with it, it's poor taste to come in and attack him or us. If you've got nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

    Hey dude

I was a Eddie-hater too. I posted sincerely and expressed my hatred about what he did.

Yeah, I hated him. A lot of us did. Nobody said you have to like Eddie Griffin. Ya wanna call him a tool? Fine with me. I thought he was a tool, also.

But there's a difference between hating somebody and wishing they were dead. I stated that I wouldn't have wished for him to be burned alive, and I hope that you wouldn't either.

You can hate Eddie all you want, but I suggest you show a little class about somebody who got burned alive.

I had no idea that he was "burned alive."

Clutchfans is just about the only quasi-news source that I keep up with anymore. Even a person like Eddie Griffin didn't deserve something like that.

I sincerely apologize for my previous comments to all of you as I feel that they were made slightly out of context...
... and I didn't "hate" the guy, all I remember about him was that the organization gave up a lot to get him and he flaked and then tried to shoot a prostitute or something to that effect... he amounted to absolutely nothing in Minnesota and would probably have amounted to absolutely nothing in Denver... but I don't think that he deserved to be "burned alive," if in fact, that was the case... I'll have to do some reading about it.

its obvious he was burnt alive, they couldnt identify his body, it took them nearly 4 days to say it was him by the dental records.
