Trade in PS2/Xbox at Gamecrazy for 100 bucks off PS3/360... maybe maybe no

    I'm gonna go find out later today. Some people I know have gotten their PS2 in the last few days from Gamecrazy. This has apparently been "confirmed" by members of cheapassgamer.com 's forums... and supposedly this ends on the 27th.

    I'm taking my PS2 to Gamecrazy later today to get my PS3. Then heading to Fry's to get a new computer chair and a Blu Ray copy of Casino Royale.

    Is the PS3 100% backwards compatible? If so, this might make it worth it to get a PS3.

    The 60GB PS3s are pretty close to 100% backwards compatible with PS2 games (something like 98%...maybe even better). The 80GB PS3s got rid of some of the PS2 hardware used for backwards compatibility (replaced by a software solution), so the percentage is not quite as high (like 75%-80% at least IIRC...though it is hard to give it an exact %). If European PS3s are any indication, this doesn't seem to be a problem for most people though.

    speaking of the Wii...does anyone know of a retail source in Houston that has a steady supply of Wiis usually?

    the Gamestop near my house never has them

    I stopped by a GameCrazy here in Deer Park yesterday that had a sign put up on their door that said, "We have Wiis in stock!!"

    I'm curious too. If this is true I may go for it, even though I vowed I'd ignore this generation of consoles.

    Anyways, he might be in the middle of a PS3 marathon as we speak. ;)

    i called and asked. the offer is true.

    however, only the slim model ps2's will get you the extra 50 bucks credit... for a total of 100 bucks credit
