Well if you want to make it complicated you could graph the 2 equations. y1 = 3(x-2) y2 = 5(x-7) And find wherever the 2 lines intersect...

I own a SC-220 (Smith Corona). There might be more powerful machines out there, but you can't beat the price of this thing.
yes, it is old... it's probably older than 10 years... i use it to balance the 'ol bank account... it sees action about twice a month! rH
the ti-89 can solve eqn's such as that, integrate, differentiate, tabulate, exponentiate, and more.. i love it!! the hp-49(g) puts some stiff competition on the 89 though.. it steps through the integration, etc. instead of just plopping out the answer.. that kinda helps when u're s'posed to show ur work.. plus, it just looks so gosh-darn purty.. too bad i already had the ti graph link, else i woulda opted for that.. no, i'm not a geek..
The HP 48 GX came out several years ago and is probably still light years ahead of any calculator out today. It graphs, does integration, derivatives, linear algebra, etc. Of course I haven't used mine in years... I believe the 49G is even better, but I haven't used it. Linky linky : HP 48gx HP 49g
DoD: I bought the HP48GX. Big mistake. Everyone else had a TI so the course was taught with that in mind.
