great news thanks a lot. does that mean if i take defensive driving, it will be off before 5 years? i will ask some local folks tomorrow. at the moment, i am leaning toward just pay the ticket over the mail. i am going to china for 10 days 4 days after the court appearance date. i don't think i have time to go to court, have to finish up work and pack
Your welcome That I can't answer for you. But since your going to ask around tomorrow the best advice that I can give you is to call the courthouse you would be dealing with (you can generally ascertain this from your ticket) and ask one of the clerks there.
I just got a speeding ticket going through some one horse town. I was going 75 in a 65. I know that I was guilty but I was so mad when it happened I was like openly hostile to the cop which I've never been before. Felt bad afterwards because in the end it was just a speeding ticket and I was thinking of making it into a SWAT incident.
yuantian I did a little more reading and I found this for you: http://www.dmv.org/wi-wisconsin/point-system.php Reducing Points If you have been convicted of a moving violation that has added points to your driving record, you can take steps to reduce points if you attend an approved traffic safety course. Three points will be removed once you successfully complete the course. If your points are in the A, B, C, D classifications, you are eligible for only one point reduction every five years. You may also have an additional three point reduction in a five year period for any points you may be assessed due to motorcycle (Class M) violations, however, you may not be permitted to reduce points if you have accumulated 12 points in a one year time span, as that requires a license suspension. This same process should also apply to getting your fine dismissed as well. All you will have to do is go to the appropriate courthouse and find the appropriate clerk and tell them you want to plead "no contest" and take defensive driving. You do not have to wait for your court date to do this. After that all you will have to do is find one of the appropriate websites to take the course and test. In doing this you can avoid to court fees and once you have successfully taken the course the fine as well. And in five years the charge will be wiped clean from your record and all you will be out of pocket is what you paid to take the test. Only con out of all of this is that it also appears like my state of Texas as well you can only use this process once every 12 months. Any other infractions within this time period and you will have to pay that fine. Again hope this helps.
Defensive driving is cheap($30 or less for most states), but the court fees will run about the same as the ticket. It's still worth it to prevent the insurance premiums from jumping higher when you renew.
yeah i got pulled over in a driveway once i was parked and getting my stuff out of the backseat. my parents live on a street that becomes staggered when it intersects the cross street. i was coming down stop, but apparently not long enough..it was 2am and there were no cars around, the only car lights i saw were about 1/4 a mile down at the signal intersection...and i got the ticket..it was memorial day 2005... so basically the cop saw me from the intersection or he was parked on the cross street with his lights off watching. he was giving me a lot of attitude i had a lot of media stuff, laptops projectors since i was comign back from a presentation and he goes and starts barking at me asking if i have been drinking and all. luckily for me i called my friends dad who is the police chief in the city and he couldnt take the ticket off since the guy had already wrote it but he fired the guy about a month later since apparently this cop was an absolute prick to everyone and they just needed enough evidence to build a case against him.
well, depending on how much time and when he has to spend sitting in court you have to consider the opportunity costs. for instance, if he's sitting in court during non-work hours than it might be worth it. but if he has to take off work for every reset date then he's probably better off paying the court cost and doing DD online.
Well ya... He can decide that for himself. Me I always had pride and fought it til death. Its the principal of the thing. Not exactly the best quality to possess.
My wife and I each got parking tickets for parallel parking facing the wrong way in front of my house. And, I don't live in some congested part of the city; I live on a small street with single-family houses with maybe one or two cars parked at the curb down the whole street.
