Ok, I'm doing these in a poll format to encourage more voting. Voting will end Monday. And screw you, A-Train!
These finals are useless without some U-Tubes to help make the decision. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/n7GYgxtK5jY"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/n7GYgxtK5jY" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vj9swNR5-lY"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vj9swNR5-lY" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Geez, Fatty, for somebody that doesn't care what people think about him, you sure are sensitive. If my post in the last thread encouraged you to put this in poll format, and the final two matchups get more votes, then you should be thanking me. Consider it sort of a protest. I don't care what Blender says, "We Built This City" is still a cool song... Screw you, A-Train!!
Don't be swayed by the hot chicks in Siquo's weak ass song! It still SUCKS! It's not about the videos.
What about Alanis Morissette's version of "My Humps" <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/W91sqAs-_-g"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/W91sqAs-_-g" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I watched the video for Humps last week and it is actually by The Black Eyed Peas featuring Fergie. So, saying that Fergie sang "Humps" is incorrect. That would be like saying that Phil Collins sang "Misunderstanding" (which he did) but it really was technically by Genesis. However, all you have to do is watch the video for "Humps" and realize immediately how bad of a song this is. Screw you, A-Train!!!
I'm stuffing the ballot box in protest- "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City" "We Built This City"
"We Built This City" is somewhat cheesy but has been unfairly slagged on all because of that damn Blender article. Screw you, A-Train!!!
I have no idea what Blender article your talking about. Someone else was blaming some VH1 special. You are all deluded. We Built This City is a straight up abomination on every level, made even worse because Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane produced some really good rock and roll earlier in their career. Compare- <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Quhj6PEboCU"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Quhj6PEboCU" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> and Contrast- <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p0tE-irUa6g"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/p0tE-irUa6g" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Come on, gifford, To truly appreciate "We Built This City", you have to listen to the version with the San Francisco traffic report spliced in... "The city by the bay, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps!"
Here is the Blender article I was referring to: http://www.blender.com/guide/articles.aspx?id=819 It isn't a great song by any means but there are FAR WORSE songs out there such as the final 4 songs in this "tournament" along with many others. That's all I'm saying; to say that "We Built This City" is the worst song ever (like Blender and VH1 and others have been saying) is a little over the top, IMO. Screw you, A-Train!!!
Damn, I may have to get subscription to Blender. They nailed what is wrong with We Built This City- STARSHIP “We Built This City” 1985 The truly horrible sound of a band taking the corporate dollar while sneering at those who take the corporate dollar. The lyrics of “We Built This City” appear to restate the importance of the band once known as Jefferson Airplane within San Francisco’s ’60s rock scene. Not so, says former leader Grace Slick, who by 1985 had handed her band to singer Mickey Thomas and a shadowy team of outside songwriters. “Everybody thought we were talking about San Francisco. We weren’t,” Slick says. “It was written by an Englishman, Bernie Taupin, about Los Angeles in the early ’70s. Nobody was telling the truth!” Certainly not Starship, who spend the song carrying on as if they invented rock & roll rebellion, while churning out music that encapsulates all that was wrong with rock in the ’80s: Sexless and corporate, it sounds less like a song than something built in a lab by a team of record-company executives. The result was so awful that years afterward, it seems to bring on a personality disorder in the woman who sang it. “This is not me,” Slick remarks when reminded of the 1985 chart-topper. “Now you’re an actor. It’s the same as Meryl Streep playing Joan of Arc.” Worst Moment “Who cares, they’re always changing corporation names,” sneers Slick — whose band had changed its name three times.
