News Coverage of the Middle East--Al Jazeera reporter arrested in Texas

I don't feel that we are getting very good news coverage of the the situation in the Middle East from the US media. I find I have to go increasingly to the BBC for the best news on Afghanistan. Even CNN looks weak compared to the BBC.

One of the most interesting things is to notice how much less one sided the BBC is on the Israel/Palestininan conflict.

In addition to the arrest , some of our smart bombs took out the Al-Jazeera and other foreign media offices in Kabul according to the BBC article. This is the same station we are buying advertizing on.

Al-Jazeera correspondent released in Texas

The Qatar-based satellite television station, al-Jazeera, says its Washington correspondent, who was arrested in the United States, has now been released.

Al-Jazeera said Mohammad al-Alami was detained as he was on his way to cover the Russian-American summit in Texas.

According to the station, Mr Al-Alami said police told him that the credit card of the al-Jazeera office contained information connected with what is going on in Afghanistan.

Al-Jazeera has been accused in the United States of being a mouthpiece for Osama bin Laden and his associates, a charge which the channel has denied.

Earlier this week, American planes bombed the building occupied by al-Jazeera, and other foreign media in the capital Kabul.
