I'm sure I'm gonna get some stupid responses.. hopefully I can get a couple of normal ones. What exactly is fun about going to a drag show? Some girls I know are going and invited a group of guys out with them. My immediate thought was "hell no".. but one of the guys in the group said he was in for it. Another said he'd be in if he could drink heavily beforehand.. I just can't see what could really be enjoyable about seeing a bunch of dudes dressed as chicks trying to make you get up and dance with them? (at least that's what I heard happens...they kinda force a lot of audience participation?) Just looking for insight from someone who has gone..
I went to a reverse drag show before. Where females dress as men. It was kind of funny. I haven't been to drag shows, but I've had drag waitstaff in restaurants and seen them in clubs. It won't be horrible, and might be something good to witness just to get the experience. If the performers are funny then maybe it will even be a positive experience for you. Either way I doubt it will be bad. Just go, and then you can decide if you will ever go again or not.
I went through the same thing: girls heard from other girls how much fun these drag shows are, I randomly hear from other female friends that they've been to these things and have had a good time. So one night the girls in our group actually decide to try it out, and where the ladies go so do I. Anyways I'm usually game for a totally different experience so this has 'different' written all over it. It was definitely interesting. It's at a gay club (obviously) and there's still some time before the show starts. I felt a bit out of place and weird at first. Me and the guys kind of stand around like guys at a junior prom just keeping to ourselves having a few drinks. What else is there to say? Just like any other club, except it's mostly guys dancing w/ other guys. When the drag show actually starts, I got more than I expected. I used to go to South Beach regularly and they have these drag performers, but mostly aimed at a more mainstream crowd. In this case it seemed pretty risque and in the confines of a comfortable for more. I guess it depends on the club you go to, but at the show I saw there was a dude who had breast implants and he eventually went topless for all to see. They were HUGE. There were other performers who wear very elaborate costume-y stuff and interact w/ the crowd like we're at a strip club. Some people from the crowd jump in and grind w/ the performers and stuff. I didn't feel like they forced crowd interaction. You could tell who wanted to interact w/ the show because they were very close to the action and giving visual cues, so they would eventually get pulled in. Overall it was pretty interesting to see for a one-time out of your element thing, and I don't regret it. But I certainly don't think I'll be interested in catching another one. I actually still don't get why women found this entertaining either.
I went to a drag show once at Houston Raceway Park. its called the O'Rielly Spring Nationals. Admitedly some of the attendees looked a bit odd and they wife beaters were out in full force. I don't seem to recall any cross dressing transexuals though. As far as chasing girls who frequent the type of drag show you are referring to, good luck with that you can have them.
