Why are we blaming Scola for not having enough free throws? We should blame the referee for swallowing his whistle and not being fair to Scola.
Well Luis Scola scored 24 points (11/16 FG% 2/2 FT%)/6 rebounds/2 assists/2 steals/2 turnovers.....and made the clutch shot 1.4 seconds before end to nip Puerto Rico 90 vs 89 in the last game of the Marchand Continental Cup. Fixed
http://www.fibaamericas.com/noticiasread_us.asp?r=TINPWNPQEN Scola was the top scorer of the tournament!
I disagree! The blame should fall solely on Scola's shoulders. He doesn't flop enough like Anderson Varejao!
how is making 20 out of 20 shots barely efficient? even the most efficient players don't make over 1.5 points per shot attempt, let alone 2-3. the whole point of the game is to put the ball through the basket. whether it comes from made free throws or made field goals, who cares? however, shooting free throws can get the other team in the penalty or foul trouble and affect the game that way.
I think he was being sarcastic... If u read carefully he said "according to some genius". I think that's a big hint lol
Well, to rectify the record, it is 14 seconds before the end, NOT 1.4 seconds before the end. Please check before you rebuke me. http://netcasting.mbt.lt/fiba/pr/netcasting/
He's talking about the fact that argintines are as dirty as they come... just watch them play soccer you'll understand... its a part of their sports culture... Im from brasil Ive seen their tactics many of times... Gino aint the first argintine to piss people off...
That's pretty efficient to me. He went 11/22.. that's 50% from the field. He scored 23 points which meant that he made one free throw. I would like to know how many free throw attempts he had. I'll take that any day.
He made 1 out of 2 free throws in this game. My only concern was he didn't get to the free throw line like he did against Canada when he got 5/7 out of a total of 31 points. I don't know how the refs call the game in these international games but I feel Scola will get to the line more often in the NBA because he likes to get near the basket and score.
http://netcasting.mbt.lt/fiba/pr/netcasting/ If you check the play-by-play from the FIBA Live broadcast from the link I provided you, you'll know the shot was made at 00:14. Puerto Rico could have won the game but Rick Jason Apodaca missed his 3-point attempt 00:02 before the buzzer.
