I think Houston may become the most hated team in the league. They may be the new Jazz. I've always suspected Scola is the dirtiest player in the world, it's been fairly obvious really. I've been watching closer now since he became a Rocket. He makes Karl Malone seem soft by comparison. This team lost a lot of fire when Sura went down. But they have it back. I mean damn, Scola is so dirty it's unreal. Stern's gonna love him. But remember it's just Stockton and Malone and Sura those types of players, the other fans all hate them, but if they are on YOUR team you LOVE them. The Rockets can no longer be considered soft by any means with this guy in the lineup. Nocioni seems tame by comparison.
Both teams have roughly the same # of possessions for a game. A team gets zero points on a TO. Whoever gets more points per posession wins the game. Do you know why Shaq don't play for the last 2 minutes of the game when the game is on the line? Shaq cannot score higher points per posession when people foul him, not because Shap doesn't attack!!!
\ haha....this brings back memories to the good old days when my hated jazz always failed in the playoffs. i don't thik theres any comparison to malone's dirtieness and cheapness in this league. He's by far the worst and most hated player in the league for opposing fans i think.
BOX SCORE Well Luis Scola scored 24 points (11/16 FG% 2/2 FT%)/6 rebounds/2 assists/2 steals/2 turnovers.....and made the clutch shot 14 seconds before end to nip Puerto Rico 90 vs 89 in the last game of the Marchand Continental Cup. Brazil, Canada and Argentina all ended up 2W 1L, and Brazil came #1 in the 4-Nations tournament. Luis Scola was the scoring champion for this tournament with 20.7 ppg, and came 2nd in rebound (7.7 rpg) to Sam Dalembert of Canada (9.5 rpg).
Well, that's not necessarily a bad thing...it actually makes me feel better. It sounds like he's very aggressive and physical. We're not going to be America's most hated team (that tag applies to the Mark Cuban Mavericks).....and I don't think that tag applied to Malone and the Jazz. Some of their rivals might have hated him, but it's not necessarily true for the rest of the country. Personally, I really enjoyed watching him. What makes you think Scola is so dirty? Is there anything in particular you can point to?
When does Scola's international duties end this summer? I don't want him to be worn out before the regular season.
I hope you're just being sarcastic...... How is 11/16 FG% (68.75%) ever considered as terrible scoring efficiency ??
article link What pissed Scola off so much when he played against the Canadian National Team? Excerpt of an article in LANACION.COM... Also yesterday more details were known on the incident of the second day of the Tuto Marchand Cup, in a match against the Canadians. <b>"How are you going to play in the NBA if you are so bad"</b>, was the phrase that Carl English, team guard with 30 points, said to Scola when the forward was going to shoot two free throws. Scola's answer found an unusual retort of referee Leo Rutins, who went to the middle of the court to "increpar" the Argentinean. That is when the tumult began which concluded in the expulsions of Prigioni and Quinteros. Also later in the article it states... <u>The policies, an extra cost for the Confederation </u> The Argentina Confederation paid 24,000 dollars, in an insurance policy capacity to the NBA, because of the participation of Carlos Delfino (US$ 13,000) and Luis Scola (US$ 11,000) in the Argentinean national team. The managers do not want to figure out how much will they have to pay when GinĂ³bili, Oberto and Nocioni return, which have the highest contracts, since the insurances are proportional to their wages.
Because of the lack of free throws according to some genius. I agree to it. I think even making 20 out of 20 shots without a free throw is barely efficient.
His international duties will end September 2.....i.e. the FIBA Americas Championship, which will commence August 22 in Las Vegas, when USA, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, Panama, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Uruguay will fight for 2 qualification slots for 2008 Olympics. So he won't be worn out before the training camp opens in October, as he will have 1 full month of rest in September. But he could be visiting China mid September, ( ) if he accepts Yao Ming's invitation to join a bunch of NBA stars including Steve Nash, Mark James, Bonzi Wells, Chuck Hayes, Greg Oden, Anthony Melo, Leandro Barbosa for a charity fund-raising games in Beijing on September 14 versus the China national team.
Totally agree. if you look at it, he only made 2 out of 2 free throws. that's definitely not enough to win a game...oops I mean only barely enough.
