i had this nightmare that he was traded to Toronto only to waste the last two years of his career away b/c of injuries *****shudder*****.
uh....this is pretty much the exact same mix: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/q1sS_wiIfL4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/q1sS_wiIfL4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> ^ I like the songs on this mix better.
That's just stunning. Is there a more talented center in NBA history? Every time I watch Dream, I am more and more sure that there's not.
Best Big Man Best Video Best One Man Performance Best Center Best Shotblocker Thank you to those who have posted this video, I'm sitting here in London at 8:00pm watching some Rugby bs. I just got juiced watching the Dream murder Ewing, Kareem, Joe Kliene (I can't believe he even challenge dream in the old SWC). I do miss the highlights of his slaughter of David Robinson when he average like 40 plus on his A. There will never be another Dream period. Best player of all times, all he needed was an organization to put better players around him and he would have been Jordan.
Awesome video!!!!! I am also convinced, if Dream played for a big market team like Knicks or Lakers and they had managed to put just one sidekick superstar like Pippen or Clyde next to Dream, then Dream would easily be considered one of the top 3 players of all time. To those who think Bill Russell was better defensively then Hakeem, well they just need to get their head out of their ass. And is it just me or would Dream be even more effective in today's NBA? His athleticism, power, shooting, defense, speed and footwork would make him Garnett++++. Lack of real centers would only make it easier for Dream. I don't even want to imagine what he would do to the likes of Yao, Amare and D. Howard. It would be just downright embarassing. Pretty sure he would also make Duncan look like the Statue of Liberty.
For those that haven't noticed, this is a ripoff of the original Hakeem the Dream video by thereasonsf3. It's just slightly different editing and different music.
Nice video, some of those blocks are just plain NASTY!!! Damn from what I know he started playing ball in his late teens, how good would he have been if he had played the game from when he was a youngster? One of the best EVER to play this game.
Agreed. People forget (or are too young to know) how good David Robinson was when Dream torched him. This guy was regarded as the best center in the league for several years and then Dream just turned his game up about 2 notches and made Robinson (MVP, DPLOY) look like a YMCA baller. Ewing got similar treatment and for a few years he was also considered a superior center. I never seen a player take it to another level like Dream did later in his career. Simply put, Dream did what he did against other elite centers when that position was as deep or deeper than it has ever been. Big men played BIG (no 7 footers play PF) back then and although he was an average sized center (at best) he clowned them with speed, agility AND strength. He would absolutely annihilate any post player in the game today including Duncan. Hell, he was Duncan but with more fire and much better athleticism.
I agree, if Clyde would have played in his prime (since 1990 or 1991) with Hakeem, the Rockets would have won another championship before the 93-94 season. BTW Great Video and Hakeem was a awesome player.
That video should also help dispel the myth that Yao can learn a lot from Hakeem. They are two completely different players with little in common other than playing center for the Rockets.
I somewhat disagree with that. True that Yao has a different skillset and he is in no way as coordinated or as athletic as Dream, but he can develop the confidence and the some of the low-post moves Dream had. I don't see Yao leading fast breaks, stealing the ball or anything like that though. But I hope to see more of the play that Yao did early in his career before JVG came into the picture. Remember his mid-range jumper? Remember his 'Shangai Shake'? I just hope Yao regains that confidence he had and that is what both he and Dream said would be the main impact of their practice.
Yao had confidence before he ever practiced with Dream. Remember how he finished the 05/06 season and started off last season before getting injured? He displayed confidence and dominance without any input from Dream at all. Yao's work ethic is just fine and aside from injuries, he's getting better each year. You remember the Miami game early on where Yao demolished Shaq? He did the Shanghai Shake that game and many others. I don't want to see the early Yao. I want to see the killer instinct he had at the beginning of last season. Along with it, we need a diverse offense that can score many ways. If Yao wants to mix in 2 or 3 mid-range jumpers some games, I have no problem with that if he hits most of them. But thank goodness we have the improved Yao and not the old, tentative, disappearing act every few games Yao. Confidence is no longer the problem with Yao. That is a completely dead issue. He knows how good he can be because he's done it. IMO, the main issues with Yao going forward are stamina and injuries. Both of these hampered him against the Jazz, which is what made him so mechanical, predictable and slow; not a lack of confidence. Just my 2 cents.
