I know and I thought I was the only was who was excited about this. Man I love Unreal Tournament. Everything else is pale is comparison. The absolute amount of choas and speed of the game makes it much more enjoyable than any other FPS with the exception of Counterstrike. I've been playing UT2004 for almost 3 years now and still get a kick out of it. I thought Gears was great on my 360 but I'm gonna have to get PS3 because it might the cheaper solution rather than upgrade my rig. Stuff is getting to expensive to keep up. At least $500 for a PS3 will get me other games like MGS4 and Grand Turismo 5. Anyway I planning on getting Halo 3 this fall but I don't know how long it can hold my interest if make that PS3 purchase with UT3. Oh well goodness every where for UT fans.
I really don't like first person shooters, but always did like UT, although I didn't play it that much. There was some map called "forest" something or other that I thought was about the most fun I've ever had playing an action game since the old Descent games. I'm pretty much bait in all these games, but this is definitely a fun one to die in.... repeatedly...
I used to play UT like crazy. Then I got married. I used to own at CTF Facing Worlds, a snipers paradise.
Are you talking about Tokara Forest? The one with all those crazy elevator jump platforms and tree branch type catwalks? That is one of my favorite maps on UT2K4. The ambiance is so great, dark with greenish soft colors and soothing music in the background. Almost perfect for a deathmatch setting. I love sniping from the tree and jumping all over the place. It almost feels peaceful and calming going 200 feet in the air and then dropping on someone with a rocket launcher locked on. I love how you can go an entire match without ever landing on the ground. Just bunny hopping from platform to platform killing people from a top down view.
I doubt it will be cross-platform (where in that things does it ever say it support crossplatform for UT3? I only see them saying they support the "engine", UE3), else it would be nightmare for all gamer. (mainly for the pc gamer as they will tone down the gameplay to suit the console kiddies)
Oops. You're right that I jumped the gun a bit. Epic's been working on getting this working with UT3, and I sort of just skimmed over the text, assuming it was confirming that they got it working. A mod may want to change the thread title to make that clarification. I need some sleep. I'm not sure if they would have to make too many changes though. PS3 owners may not want to play PC owners unless they hook up their own M&KB though.
YO RC, What site did you get your PS3 at? For how much if you don't mind me asking. My friend is looking to get one and the best we can fine is 499 with a blu-ray remote.
I got mine from eBay, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend (although I had a good experience). I only did it since they were going for $100-$150 less than the MSRP at the time, which was still $600. I haven't checked since the price cut, but I'm assuming that's no longer the case.
Hell yeah! It's non-stop. Everywhere you turn, you're in the open basically. And you can get shot at from all angles. People come flying in from above and right when you think you're alone or isolated enough, here comes a firestorm of people chasing each other and they happen to spot you... jump! lol. It's one of those maps you basically say "screw strategy" and just make sure you don't stop running.
Thanks man. We're going to wait till tomorrow and see what kind of deals frys has. I heard that newer models of the 360 pros will have an HDMI output. Can you confirm this? Do you know what that might come into effect?
The newer models do have HDMI output. Some Targets have had them in stock, but there are still lots of old models floating around. You'll know they have HDMI by reading the package. The description will explicitly state it has HDMI on it.
Brando2101, FYI : I just went to a local Target here in the DFW area and picked up an HDMI-equipped 360... so they're out there.
U use to play descent? that was my first EVER pc video game. we would hook up through the modem and fly around trying to kill each other. My mom would get so pissed that she couldn't get through on the phone line.
Can't wait for this game to come out I was instantly hooked to fps because of unreal championship for xbox and quake for dreamcast. The legend continues and will purchase it for the ps3 nevermind you cant go wrong with xbox live !!!
I love Unreal Tournament...I use to play it on my Dreamcast and still pick it up every now and then...I had on on my xbox, but it wasn't as fun...Graphics were better, but preferred the play on my Dreamcast...
