I say Lidge's knee is bothering him more than he is letting on. I don't know if I want to win the extra 2-3 games that he may close out for us in exchange for him getting all outta whack again.
Wow! I didn't see the end of the game. What the hell was he thinking that far off the base on a foul ball pop up to the catcher? Brew Crew and Baby Bears are struggling hard.
Yeah, he's said that since the All-Star break... he's having to ice it every day before BP. He said the other day he would continue to pitch, but that it did have the potential to impact his arm, and if it did, that's when he would have to shut it down... So yes, surgery is essentially a lock at this point.
By the way, Mariano Rivera allowed three runs in one inning today to lose the game, and his ERA soared to 3.46 (higher than you know who). I think Rivera is finished mentally. He might be okay in the seventh inning, but he can't close anymore. It certainly doesn't just happen -- closing is automatic if you're good, every time. He folds every time there is pressure. He is a choker. The Yankees should have traded this loser a long time ago. All the fans knew what could, and most likely would, happen. Guys, anyone interested in him as a reclamation project?
No, not interested. Once a closer blows a game he's finished mentally and can never close again. I think Huff will always be in his head since he homered on him today. I'd never let him face Aubrey again.
I hate to say it, but I'm really loving the Cards right now. They're doing us a huge favor by poundings the Brewers. We know we can beat the Cardinals, so I'm not worried about them being in the race again. That said, today will be a tough game to win. Jennings hasn't had a quality start in awhile, and we're going against Brad Penny.
haha, forgot about that. Although, he did blow a save two nights ago. Maybe they should just cut him altogether.
Tonight's loss sponsored by: Phil Garner - The moron who leaves horrid starting pitchers in too long. & Jason Jennings - Possibly the worst trade in Houston Astros history. Way to kill any momentum fellas....you must have fishing trips planned in October. MORONS ! DD
yeah i called this **** 2 innings ago when all jennings was getting was fly balls. hey garner - i don't care if he's getting outs..if your groundball pitcher isn't getting groundballs it's going to catch up with him.
DD -- do you mind if I ask you a question? Here's what I don't understand. I know you think extremely highly of Luke Scott, as do I. Scott's having a tremendous year, particularly of late. His OPS is in the upper .800s. He's becoming a mainstay in the heart of the lineup. Willy Taveras has an OPS in the low .700s -- I know, I know, there's more to him than that -- but I still don't think he's as valuable of a hitter as Scott. If you could replace Scott with Taveras in this lineup, would you? I know I wouldn't, and given how highly you think of Luke, I wouldn't think you would want to either. Clearly, Jennings hasn't panned out, but I don't see the value they gave up in return being so damaging to even call it close to the worst deal in franchise history. Why would you remove Scott from the lineup for Taveras?
Cat, I have no problems trading Willy or Hirsch or Bucholz, it was trading all 3 of them for a pitcher who is in an expiring year of his contract, and basically can't throw a ball faster than 87-88 mph. I am happy with an outfield of Lee, Pence and Scott..... But I would rather watch Hirsch develop, and use Bucholz out of the bullpen than watch one more Jason Jennings beach ball throwing start. That is why I think it was a horrid trade.....the 3 for 1 is what I have a problem with..... DD PS. Why can't Lance hit the fastball anymore? He used to kill those pitches...ugh. PPS. Anyone else noticing that Tim Redding is quietly having a good year?
He is always 1 inning away.....if you watch him pitch and other teams are hitting fly balls they get deeper and deeper as the game goes on.... He was not pitching all that well, just a lot of well hit balls were at our outfielders. He is GARBAGE !! And I hate Garner and his righty lefty crap......just get pitchers who can get anyone out. DD
Did Garner just give up and leave Trever Miller in there to face a righty? Why the hell is he in the game anyway?
You guys are debating this, so I'll just go ahead and say.... I would have loved a lineup of Taveras Pence Berkman Lee Lamb Loretta Biggio Ausmus
