Kanye is a nerd; he's immensely talented and this whole music thing might just be a bit too easy for him. And I agree that he's even better on stage. He's too smartarse for me to dislike him.
Personally, I'd be happy not to have 50 put out any more songs himself. I really like him when he is a guest on a track, but I don't really like hearing him for an entire song. I think he's at his best on things like "Hate it or Love it" by Game, or any of the various Eminem songs he's guested on.
funny thing is, when did he ever had "street cred"? he never sold crack nor was he a gangster and he never posed as either of those kinds of people. so i'd say his "street cred" was nonexistent before the get up.
When he said George Bush doesn't care about black people. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zIUzLpO1kxI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zIUzLpO1kxI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
It's just extremely different kinds of music I think. I don't know if Kanye can be classified into either of Rap or HipHop. 50 cent is hip hop. Right now, he simply IS hiphop. I think what killed hiphop is the lil waynes, rick ross' and david banners. Between the 3 of them, there are maybe 2 or 3 songs that I can say I kinda like. Nothing I love. Don't wanna listen to the rest of it.
Hip Hop is not a form of music. The music itself is called Rap music. Hip Hop best represents the culture spawned by the music...
Lil' Wayne??? The guy is easily one of the top 5 mainstream rappers out right now, no contest. He's released at least one disc that I consider a near-classic...If anything, he's doing what he can to save hip hop. 50 Cent isn't the force he once was, so I don't think I would say "is hip hop."
He probably means "old school" Lil Wayne. The Lil Wayne of today is indeed one of the bright spots in rap.
Basically its the fact that the South is whats mainstream now and because the South is generally known to be mediocre at best in terms of lyricism(with a few exceptions) the quality of music isn't that good. Someone like Rick Ross would outsell Talib Kweli today, though Talib's album would be infinitely better than Ross album in every aspect from top to bottom. One club banger sells your album.
50 cents is exactly that, a no talent jerkoff who stole a dead thug's name and persona and made it his own. Dude has to diss other people to sell his music because it won't sell on its own. I don't like Ja rule either but 50 is the 2nd coming of the very dude he dissed. And I promise, it will come out one day that 50 is a homosexual or bi. There's just something about him that seems so gay (His mannerisms and the way he talks). Also the fact that he has to go out of his way to "appear" so macho. Kanye's worse work >>>>>>>> 50 Cent's best work
I saw that live and was just stunned......did anyone else expect Chris Tucker to shout, "DAYUM!"? Great moment in TV history.
Precisely. The South unleashes some great club tracks, but its not the kind of music you'd sit and listen to in your car or your house. I mean, exactly how many times can you listen to a guy saying "YEEEAAAAAH" and "OKAAAAAAAAAAAY". Again, I can appreciate a lot of the music. I'd party my ass of to Lil Jon and the Ying Yang Twins, and would hit the concert if they came to town. But are they musically gifted? Depends on what you see as the purpose of music.
Kanye won't outsell 50. He should, but he won't. Mainstream rap nowadays is diluted with mediocrity with a few potential bright spots. Kanye West is one of the most talented artists out there right now both lyrically and production-wise. 50 Cent is marginal, at best, but he had some catchy beats in his songs, you know, those club songs, so he climbed to the top of the rap scene. These kind of match-ups will never end like they should. I hope Kanye outsells 50 Cent, but in all likelihood, he won't. It's like hoping Nas outsells Lil' Wayne. For the sake of rap, I wish it would happen, but it won't.
Yeah, Nas should outsell everybody. Lil Wayne is a little more fun to listen to, the guy has talent and he is finally putting it to use. Atleast he is making rap/hip-hop fun to listen to again. His stuff isn't all about partying like rockstars or shaking and dropping, or drinking bottles of unaffordable liquor.
I'm more interested in the Bill O'reilly Vs. NAS battle that is going on. Has anyone heard about this? apparently, the great patriot, O'reilly does not want Nas to participate in V-tech's Memorial concert. on the subject, 50 cent's lyrics are worth 25 cents to a dollar, in comparison to Kanye.
50 will win...I hate to say it, but all the white girls on TRL will buy his album. His music is not Rap...
