I read somewhere else that he was going to get cut from the final USA roster to make room for some younger players like Durant, but Nick Collison? Are you serious?
maybe its because this video went public... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FJXUnabwwOY"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FJXUnabwwOY" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> I'd take a step out of the spotlight too.
I dont see cutting him for younger players being their strategy. The idea for this team I thought was to get SERIOUS players and vet types like Jason Kidd and Kobe to help it. He'da probably not been on the roster anyways, which makes it easier for him to withdraw. Oden and Hinrich as well
I read earlier today on Sheridan's blog on ESPN.com that he was likely going to be cut so that he could attend to some family issues (it's updated now so I can't source it). That is probably why he withdrew.
Well it is for a grand reason. It was reported in Chinese websites that when Yao Ming approached his NBA peers and team mates to organize a NBA All Stars game with the Chinese national team on September 15 for charity purpose, both Steve Francis and Shane Battier have to decline for the same reason. Steve Francis is expecting his second child and Shane Battier wants to reduce as many of activities as possible to take more rest in order to have a baby with his wife. http://nba.sports.tom.com/2007-08-10/0424/85198941.html
I don't understand why they put Nick Collison on the team. Even if they want him to be a token white guy, why couldn't they keep on Hinrich, who is a far superior player? Maybe they can't find enough bigs? But surely they can do better than Collison.
