reggie retired because he couldn't do what he used to be able to do ... time away from the game didn't make him any better i doubt he can run around trying to break free via picks anymore. you need to be in peak condition to be able to break free and get lift on long jumpers. in fact, i doubt the celtics would be setting picks to get him open ... his defense was always mediocre and now it would be below average
this story is misleading... Reggie isnt "considering a comeback," its more like to Celtics are begging him to come out of retirement and play on their team... I think thats a big diference and this is why I am skeptical about media stories... and a statement by Reggie: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...lug=ap-celtics-reggiemiller&prov=ap&type=lgns
On a side note, Rockets are looking at Derrick Coleman to bring toughness needed in the front court. [/QUOTE] Interviewed in a Gary Indiana crack house- Coleman is excited about joining the Rockets. He asked if Eldridge Recasner could come too.
He better not come back, especially after criticizing Malone and Payton for riding Shaq and Kobe's coat tails. At least they were starting and playing big minutes. Reggie wont be doing that in Boston so his situation would be even worse.
The chance of Reggie returning is zero. Besides, why would he go to the Celtics? If the Suns came calling, with their championship chances and weak bench, he might actually think long and hard about it. But the Celtics are just good enough to be a contender in the East.
Wilt Chamberlain is dead? What the hell... I was gonna post his name for a list of people to come back as a joke.
ESPN News reported earlier that the Celtics signed Pollard. I assume they will bring Allan Ray back and that they will sign draft picks Gabe Pruitt and Glen Davis. At the moment their roster then with Reggie Miller added probably looks something like this: PG Rajon Rondo/Eddie House/Allan Ray SG Ray Allen/Tony Allen/Gabe Pruitt SF Paul Pierce/Reggie Miller/Brandon Wallace PF Kevin Garnett/Leon Powe/Brian Scalabrine C Kendrick Perkins/Glen Davis/Scot Pollard I think the whole situation for Reggie is based on simply can I just play 12-15 minutes and can this team realistically win the East and have a chance to at least compete with the West Final team? Looking at that roster, I have to say the answer is yes on all accounts. That's certainly a much stronger team than the Cavs were last year.
I think going to celtics will ruin his legacy...he should stay retired as much as i love miller time...it just doesnt seem right
Cliche. Thats never been true... Do you remember MJ as the greatest player of all time or the guy that couldn't make the playoffs on the Wizards? Do you remember Magic Johnson as a playmaking demi-superhero or the guy that accidentally threw a referee? Thank about it... Ruining legacies? That doesn't exist.
I think he shouldn't do it. I always respect players who played their entire career for one team. I also doubt he will be of much use. But who knows
Good, They can also get Scottie Pippen to play next to Reggie Miller and while they're at it. They can get Alan Houston as a backup. Why stop there. They should call Hakeem Olajuwan and see if he's willing to back up Garnett. sheesh
well, on the Dan Patrick show today Reggie sounded like it's pretty much a lock he will play. The only IF is that he wants more time to be sure his body can hold up, and plans about 2 more weeks of hard practices. As a Pacer fan this makes me feel pretty sad. Must be a lot like a lot of you guys felt when Hakeem left Houston, though maybe worse since he retired, had his nunmber raised to the rafters, talked seemingly endlessly about how important it was that he never wore another uniform, and THEN comes back to a rival...
Well its a little different. We traded Hakeem to Toronto. You guys got jacked a lot more because he retired and had the big farewell ceremony with him crying on the court and getting emotional and then decides to comeback. But yeah, I heard that interview too. It sounds like he wants to come back and the only question is whether he thinks his body can hold up. If he thinks he's physically ready, he'll be in Boston.
