http://batanga.sportsya.com/english/news.php?id_estruc=283&id=154290 At this rate no team will have reason to trade for one the excess Rockets PGs.
This is kind of puzzling, they now have 3 young point guards. If they had their eye on Navraro, why spend 4th pick on Conly? Are they going to cut Lowry now? He looked decent last season...
Navarro is going to be their starting PG, Conly is a very good back up that will play a lot minutes in his rookie year. I think Memphis is going to trade Lowry for a draft pick and/or cash.
Why would they need to trade Lowry? Most teams carry at least 3 PGs and Grizzlies have in the past liked to have PG cover on hand.
Clairifying for ya'll Navarro is an off guard. He plays shooting guard. And he is the starting shooting guard for the Spanish National team. He has great chemistry with Pao Gasol. They've been playing together for years and they will be a really tough combination for people to deal with. Don't look now but the Grizzley's look legit. Darco (Former #2 pick that is steadily progressing each year) Gasol (A perennial All-Star; starter for Spain's team) Miller (Clutch shooter who is well rounded) Navarro (Starting shooting guard of Spain's team) Conley (4th pick of draft - and is very very very good) New is that they are loaded with talent and potential.
Well Clippers are really gonna be bad now and open to all kinds of trades. We should trade them for their first round draft pick. Cory Magette anyone?
Yes he is an undersized sg, who can eventually play some minutes as a pg given his passing and ball handling skills. But he is mainly a scorer. He was the top scorer of the ACB League (Scola was second), and was picked in the all euroleague first team. He is the starting shooting guard in the Spanish team. And the main offensive threat after Gasol. Pau Gasol, put a lot of pressure to the Grizzlies to bring Navarro. Macijauskas, another undersized european sg, couldn't find a place in the NBA... Navarro is a more complete player, so only time will tell how he adapts to the NBA.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lowry was starting at the end of the season. He was tearing it up last season before his injury.
Navarro plays SG...he'll prolly be the 6th man. And here are the conditions "'08 if the Grizzlies select 20 or further down, it goes to the Wizards (top 19 protected) '09 if the Grizzlies select 17 or further down, it goes to the Wizards (top 16 protected) '10- '12 the Grizzlies pick is lottery protected '13 - the pick is top 12 protected and if it has not been given, cash considerations will be given to the Wizards."
