People that didn't get to see it missed experiencing a lot of what the West was really like. When you think about it, it's a miracle we expanded across the continent without killing each other off, one way or another.
Very true. I haven't read up on it as much, but a friend of mine read that it was very realistic. It had so many great lines. Of course, if I tried posting them here, it'd be a bunch of *****s.
That was the one thing that bugged my wife about the show. She's no prude, believe me, but she got irritated that they used the F-bomb, and worse, constantly. I think it stood out more simply because they also spoke a rather stilted English (sort of Victorian) back then, when they wanted to, so the way of using their language would change abruptly. A "lady" around? They are bowing and sweeping off their hats, talking as refined as they know how. The lady walks out the door? look out!
Gotta see The Shield and of course The Sopranos. Those two and 24 are my three favorites, but I put The Shield at the top. When I wached the DVDs, I was up damn near all night watching episode after episode, like a book you can't put down. Great storylines, tremendous realism, interesting characters, just a phenomenal show, by far the best cop show ever. I can't wait to start Entourage as sson as i finish The Sopranos, but I find it hard to believe that it can top 24, Sopranos or the Shield.
USA series that I like: Monk Psych Burn Notice (just started this summer) and one SciFi series I like: Eureka
