Tell that to Michael Vick and Tank Johnson. And you might want to cc the NFL commish on it too.

Rafer was never a dreadful 3pt shooter. It is just about everywhere else where he can not shoot efficiently. He is also very good at using his body to shield defenders when driving to the basket (a la Tony Parker). Unfortunately, he only went hard to the basket like 5 times the whole season.

Cops are idiots. Most of them try to create even more trouble than need be. When they see a big name like Rafer, it makes them use their power without any thought.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned somewhere, but it's worth repeating.

Rafer's had brushes with the law in the past, but those were almost entirely before he was in the league. He wasn't drafted until 1998. No police run-ins for almost a decade. Sounds like the guy matured and cleaned up his act.

Racist pigs may be a jumped-to conclusion, but it is easy to imagine someone overreacting when the angry person is a 6-2 black man with a fancy car.

Could be a guy looking to set himself up for a civil suit against a wealthy public figure.

Sometime it is really frustrating to read posts in this forum making fun out of some unfortunate events on certain Rockets player(s) like they are playing for Dallas Mavericks or San Antonio Spurs.

Are your serious? Tank Johnson has done prison time for crimes he committed and Vick is facing a federal indictment in which they have a ton of evidence against him. An attorney friend of mine told me that something like 73% of all federal cases are either plead out or a guilty verdict is rendered. The number is probably higher now. Have you read the indictment on Vick. he owned the property, ect... Come on man, straws.

I believe Rafer is innocent. That parking attendant sucks.

Rafer isn't well liked on these boards so he gets it worse. He has a fans here but I'd say it's kind of like a 70/30 against him. What I haven't understood in the continous bashing of him even when we know he's not going to be a Rocket anymore. Some people just have some weird hate for him. If it was another player you wouldn 't hear this.

The really sad thing is when the case is resolved it won't make a difference whatsoever. I honestly wish he would have already been traded so he didn't have to deal with a lot of fans like we have. Rafer played pretty poorly last year but we as a whole have one of the biggest groups of fair weather fans of any city out there. Just look at TMac, Yao, the Astros, ect....... It doesn't end. Just my opinion though.

Just to clarify that is directed at our city as a whole and not this board (although there are some whom subscribe to the same way of thinking)

He is innocent in terms of being screwed over by an ignorant parking attendant. he had been drinking though and words were exchanged between the parking attendent and himself (who looked to make a quick buck with a bogus assault charge). rafer cooperated with the police and nothing will come out of this. The ppolice were just doing there jobs. I think a PI is lame (espoecially when he wasn't alone) but that's their call. Like I said, rafer cooperated with the police and had nothing negative to say about the way they treated him except expressing his innocence to him.

    That's actually what happened(!?)
How do you know that? You eyewitness it? Or just hearsay?
Regardless, any other team's GM will see this as "sh%t Rafer," maybe except Knicks. Even Trailblazer now hates to be called Jailblazer.

Sounds like Rafer lost his temper, and some attendant dude was a big baby and went running for the cops instead of just answering that he had the car towed and live with it.

maybe he should be working on his b-ball game instead of his bottle. I feel no pity for the guy. Who wouldn't trade places with a millionaire who gets to play basketball for a living? Geez, Rafer has it so tough?

All these spoiled celebs - it gets tiring. You don't see Yao Ming having these kinds of issues. What a breath of fresh air it is to have a guy like that as the center piece to our team.

Let's wait to see what actually happened before you jump to conclusions about Alston.

Rafer gets zero sympathy from me at all on this but you are either a complete idiot or please forgive me for missing the sarcasm.

It doesn't matter what gets discussed here. Stupidity will pour out of somebody.

Not that i don't agree with you on Yao but do you ever go out and get drunk with your friends? Ever? Have you ever driven while drunk? Not passing judgment but I'm sure the answer is that you have definitely come out of a club or bar intoxicated before.

The more you get into your post it makes you sound jealous in general. It's not there fault bro that they were blessed with gifts thast make them more money then any of us. They make mistakes too. it's called being human. I highly doubt he would be working on his basketbasll game at 3 am. Tons of athletes go out. It's just the way it is. it's a PI. You're taking it way too seriously in my opinion. Oh well, I'm done debating this. Same thing over and over (not that anyone has been rude or anything) but it's a circular debate for the most part. Think what you want. In the end, you'll get a chance to see what occured and then maybe it will effect you rushing to judgement so quickly. he made a bad choice either way, but not as bad as it's being made out to be.

Also it seems that that parking attendant gets zero sympathy from those fans. Is he a second class citizen, or what?

A bit shocking to me even knowing Rafer's past he just seemed like he had turned his life around. Who knows but I can't picture the guy that was always as polite as possible while doing anything off the court being such a bad egg.
