. . .and I ain't happy. My throat is on fire and I had my last real meal last nite I dunno how I am gonna make it through] but I will. I'm groggy . . how long will this last? Any one else had this done. . . in their adult years? Rocket River
My girlfriend got hers out two weeks ago.. It was about 3-4 days until she had solid food without excruciating pain She could barely talk for about a week [she had a notepad that she would use to communicate] she was all better in about 10 days. so im thinking it takes about a week to two weeks for it to heal
I don't know why doctors continue to remove things from the body ... pretty soon we'll have other major organs taken... I will NEVER remove anything from my body... everything is there for a reason. If it is not working, fix it, Doc! Hope you feel better, River. I hear that people who have this done eat lots of ice cream. Blue Bunny, maybe?
I had it done 7 years ago, when I was 39. The pain lasts 3-4 days. Best thing you can do for yourself is go to the grocery store and get a box of popsicles. I prefer Dreyer's fruit bars. I never liked them until I had my tonsils out. Now I keep them in the freezer over the summer. Trust me....your throat will thank you!
I had a UPPP (google it) done a few years ago. It took about 2 weeks for everything to get back to normal but there is a little more taken out in a UPPP.
NO. If that were true, then why were you born with them? Also, doctors wouldn't have enough time or patience to do everyone. WHY?
I'm not sure about this but aren't the tonsils/adenoids vestigial structures? AKA Like an Appendix, Serves no function.
I second this. They are important for protecting against respiratory infections. Don't get them removed unless you have no choice.
That's what I had done in 2000....a UPPP, tonsillectomy, and they fixed my deviated septum. It fixed my sleep apnea, and I don't snore any more.
What all did fixing your deviated septum involve? How long were you out of commission and what were the immediate side effects (black eyes?, pain?, etc.)?
I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Especially since I'm going to have to have my tonsils out very soon. I get tonsil infections all the time (three or four times a year) and my doc keeps telling me to get them out. I'm putting it off because: 1.) No time for recovery 2.) I'm a wimp 3.) I'm a singer, and I'm worried how it will effect my voice.
I feel ya I got tonsilitus 2 this year alone [within 2 months of each other] Been having absesses etc. They were more trouble than they were worth I had not time . . until now [THANKS Short Term Disability] glad i am no longer a Temp. 2. I was very nervous. . it was my 1st operation in which I was put under completely. been sleeping on and off all day 3. I was hoping it would improve my voice *grin* Ice Cream, pudding, broth - todays' diet and my stomach is not full . . won't get filling food until wednesday MASHED POTATOEs - will mix it with the broth i think Rocket River
