It that time again. Young people getting drunk and fighting, this time in another country. http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/realworld-season19/series.jhtml [/IMG]http://www.mtv.com/onair/realworld/season19/assets/images/flipbooks/cast/trisha/flipbook/DSC_0067.jpg[/IMG]
well at least this thread will answer my question as to "who the hell bothers to watch this crap" anymore.
Usually I'll watch the first episode to check out their cool crib. I think I saw part of two shows last season.
the real world was good when they used to tackle topics and crap like that. Season 1 to season 3 were good. The rest were decent. It all went downhill after Vegas. now it's just an orgy fest. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that it is not thought provoking or anything.
I never liked this show. I've tried watching it to fit in with my friends but I could never get into it. Maybe it's my dislike for reality tv or whatever but I just don't get what the big deal is with this show. Bunch of nobodies hanging out and arguing..........wow, so much fun!
The season in San Francisco, with Pedro battling HIV, was the best and worst. Puck was an ass but entertaining, and of course Pedro's HIV eventually became AIDS and he lost the battle, but Judd and what's her name ended up getting married...and like you said, there were actually "REAL WORLD" issues at hand during that season. That's what the show was supposed to showcase. Now it's just a bunch of models having an orgy with one, maybe two "normal" people thrown in to keep things "real" I guess. It's horrible now.
You can't top Vegas..I mean, c'mon...I watched a little of Denver, but it started to suck... I usually watch the first ep to see the pad, and how hot the chicks are...well, after looking at the pics, there is no need to see it...
Season 19, geez where does the time go....I was thinking of Real World the other day for whatever reason...I havent had cable in a while so I've missed out on the past few, though I stopped watching many seasons before that even. The original premise was meant to be taken semi-serious but it just lost relevance 5 seasons in. The early 90's era where people needed to "wake up" slowly diminished. Then they just kept steadily going away from the documentary approach to the entertainment approach. Cast members didnt take it as serious, just wanted to get their 15 minutes of fame out of it and stay in a cool pad to go party. Viewers did see through that and still gave it a chance but then MTV started aiming strictly to the high schoolers, and lost interest and credibility as a whole with the viewers who grew with the network. The Real World Hawaii with that Teck guy and Ruthie and that other white girl getting nakey any chance they can get, along with those couple other goobers was the epitome of all that and the end for me.. And don't even mention Road Rules and the Real World/Road Rules challenges where they got celebritized and it got too gimmicky. (Though I did prefer Road Rules to Real World, and we all preferred Elka from Real World )
Glad I'm not the only one who USED to watch this show but doesn't anymore. Originally, it was ground-breaking TV. Now, it's just a bunch of frustrated actors trying to become famous. They used to throw 7 totally different people in there (doctor, musician, Republican, gay guy, country girl, model, etc) and it was pretty interesting to see them learn to get along. Now, they just throw a bunch of fratboy meatheads and sorority bimbos (with a token gay guy and/or black guy), get them drunk, and film them having sex and fighting. Boring.
Saw the show last night, they mixed it up a lil bit. 1st time theres not even 1 black person. on the plus side, ALL the girls are bleepin hot! seriously. the hatin earlier in the thread about the girls was definitely off base cos those girls are fine. Regardless i'm sure we could probably figure out how the season will go.
Did they get through the episode without sleeping with each other? Last season they were doing it on the first show.
Yep they made it. Just barely. On the real though, those ladies are the hottest theyve ever had on the real world.
It's another one of those shows that just......won't.....die. Please make it die. (I'm one of those old farts that actually enjoyed MTV when it first came out and played music videos)
