Not that it matters, but it was no fault to Battier whatsoever... Wade actually fouled Battier and the refs didn't call it. He awkwardly raked Battier's arm dislocating his own. Battier didn't initiate contact, throw his body into him, or anything else like that. It was more of a freak accident that happened to occur when Battier had the ball.

Pretty useless bumping a thread without an explanation

By the way, this is the same injury that ended Sir Charles career so I've got to wonder how Brand will come back from this.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Aug. 3) - Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles' tendon on Friday during his daily workout.

Elton Brand almost averaged a double-double last season. L.A. didn't make the playoffs and could struggle to do so this year.

Brand, 28, will undergo surgery but plans for the operation have not been finalized yet, the Clippers said.

"It's unfortunate that this had to happen," general manager Elgin Baylor said in a statement. "But knowing Elton and how dedicated he is to his profession and how hard he works, I believe he'll be back 100 percent as good as ever."

Last month, Brand - a veteran of eight NBA seasons - withdrew from the U.S. national team because of an injury. He averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, when the Clippers failed to make the playoffs.

Didn't Barkley Tear(rupture) a quadricep tendon? I remember his kneecap poking up pretty prominently, nothing to do with the achillies...

a couple of years ago I thought they were going to be around for the next 5-6 years......... just think about all the talent that has played for them

    Manning, Harper, Wilkins, Brand, etc.

and yet they have never had anything to show for it.........
