I think this is the best option. Unlike most, I think we will be ok at the 4 with Scola, Hayes, and spot minutes for Battier.

If Deke does retire I like the idea of dumping Alston & Reed to the B-Cats then signing Keith Van Horn as the vet backup to cover the 3, 4, and 5 for the vet's min. If Novak busts out, KVH can step in instead, as he's capable of doing what they're looking for in Novak already.

Doing would also give them more salary space. It'd be easier to make a move if they need to tweak before the trade deadline.

Miller is so great. He is not for sale by Memphis.

I am not excited about Foster and his contract sucks for what he gives you. I also think Deke is the better player for 15 minutes. Deke actually was the #1 rebounder per minute (though Foster and Hayes are up there), and is also a much better shot blocker and offensive player than Foster. But if Deke doesn't want to come back, Foster for Alston + Reed + Novak or JL3 would be OK I suppose.

    Snyder+Alston+Sura+Lucas = Dorell Wright + Jason Williams

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...25~933~2423&teams=14~14~14~14~10~10&te=&cash=

Considering that the only significant piece the Heat will be getting is Alston and that they'll be surrendering a promising young talent, I think the Rockets will have to take on a bad contract. Still, it's just a year.

Why I would make this deal:

Wright's a better prospect over Snyder.
    Snyder's value<Luther's value

    ^in this team: Snyder's value < Luther's value

Just would like to add to that trade:

Steve Novak to get Wayne Simien ?

Why trade for Simien when the Rockets just traded cash and a future pick to get Carl Landry? While Simien's a little bigger, Landry has the more polished offensive game.

I really do think Foster is a good idea for this team. He is one of the best rebounders in the league plus he is bigger than Hayes. He won't foul as much since we all know that is a big problem for Chuck. I think we trade JLIII, Novak, Snyder and Rafer for Foster and Diogu. Sound good?

Just because he's a little bit bigger, I like him better as a prospect. They're both still young, so I think there's a lot of room to improve.

Morey said that he won't trade Snyder because his ability to get to the rim.Luther is our best 3pt shooter along with Steve Novak.Nobody wants Sura's contract and JHL3 is only going to be traded there.Dorrel is fine guy but we have those type of players alredy and Jason is too old and he's slowed down by many injyuries.

My opinion that Jeff won't fit so good in Adelman system.Diogu is fine guy but I doubt that he will come here b/c Indy will not let him.Novak and Snyder are future of this team and they're not going to be traded.Snyder because of his athleticism and Novak cause of his shooting.

I don't know if this has been proposed yet, & I'm not about to read 1200+ posts to find out. But, with our glut of guards & a lack of true size at the PF position, how would you like to do this trade?

    Houston sends Alston/Reed/Head to Detroit.

    Detroit sends McDyess/Hunter to Houston.

    Imo, this helps both teams.

Detroit gets an upgrade at the backup PG position. Since they are loaded at the 4/5 positions, trading McDyess allows them to move an older player & give Amir more PT. They get a promising young SF to pair with Tayshaun. They also get Head who can play the PG (sparingly)/SG positions & brings some much needed outside shooting skills.

Houston gets a veteran PF with more traditional size, good shooting skills, rebounding skills, & shot blocking skills. He's only got 2 years remaining on his contract & can be used to platoon/teach Scola the nuances of the game. Hunter is in the last year of his contract & could be released outright. Thus, we make a 3 for 1 trade, which helps us to ease the glut at the guard position. We could substitute Butler for Reed & the trade would still work. But, I'd rather keep Butler, if we can.

    Any thoughts? Is it doable?

    How about Alston for McDyess?

Because I believe it'll take more than that to get him. The unwritten rule of thumb is, you don't trade a big for a small, unless you benefit from it. Unless they're looking to dump his salary, a backup PG wouldn't be enough.
