Anybody up for signing him? Supposedly his agent claimed he talked to many teams and some said they'd be interested in him. I think he's 43, but could he still bang around next to Yao 15-20 minutes, block the lane saving Yao a foul, and grab some boards as long as he's is in good shape. I'm sure he'd take the minimum to be on a contending team. He would be a nice enforcer for the team and that extra big man we need. Any thoughts, or do you think he's already washed up?
We'd all prefer Mutombo... I love a player that will hit someone. Protect the lane. An enforcer. But Oakley's days are long gone. If you mentioned this idea directly to Adelman he might slap you.
I am trying not to bash you because I don't remember you ever posting stupid stuff but this is stupid stuff.
He's not even worth the veternan's minimum, and he's already said he wouldn't accept that. Forget it.

Charles Oakley's stats as a Houston Rocket in 2003-04 7 games 3.6 min 33.3% FG 0.7 rebounds 1.1 PFs 1.3 pts He had as many fouls as he did points and his FG% was worse than Rafer. This was while playing for his man JVG.
Well thank you. That's very kind of you. I didn't hear he wouldn't come cheap until now. I definantly wouldn't even think of him then. I was never giving him my meaningless personal endorsment. I was curious to see if others thought he could contribute since we still haven't found another big guy. Also, who we would give up to get one if the oppurtunity arrises? All we have is a surpluss of point guards that haven't proved much the last few years other than MJ and Rafer. And Rafer has not proved good. Feel free to lock the thread up!
At least someone showed enough restraint to realize that this news should have NOTHING to do w/ the Rockets.
Let's get Ryan Bowen while we're at it. He'd be a great pickup. He'd give Tracy 20-30 minutes of rest because of his all-around basketball skills
