He hurt his hand driving in against the knicks by hitting it on someones back or something like that, i remember he tried to shoot the free throws but air balled the first one and then tried to shoot the second with his other hand and air balled it too... at least thats what i remember
I would argue the ball handler part. There isn't any evidence to support this conclusively. He has decent rebounding numbers for his position (5.9 rpg per 40 minutes last year) and he is athletic. The biggest problem Snyder has always had is that he has a low basketball IQ which causes him to miss assignments on both ends of the floor. He also isn't a particularly hard worker in practice. I hope the guy has a breakout season. He needs to since he'll be a free agent after this season. But, I'm not yet convinced.
He might be a better player but my intuition is that he is an inferior complement to either McGrady or Battier (one of whom will be on the floor pretty much at all times) than Head. But I have not reserached this, so who knows.
thanks for the correction. I think he was doing pretty well before he was injured. He has the potential to be the equivalent of Gerald Wallace in Adelman's former team. His basketball IQ will only improve with enough experience and exposure.
Why Kirk Snyder isn't good: 1)Defensively overrated (athleticism does not = defense) 2)Low IQ (Swift at the SG) 3)Questionable ball handling 4)No outside jumpshot Why people think Kirk Snyder is good: 1)Age 2)ESPN highlight reel dunks 3)He is on the Rockets
We havent seen a whole lot of Snyder, but when he played last year I was not impressed. I think Head is definately the better player, but the Rockets have plenty of guys that can do what Head does. I dont think Snyder's that great, but maybe Im one of the people underrating him. He has athletic ability, only that isnt worth too much without a good jumper or a decent basketball iq.
I don't think he can be classified as an above average ball-handler. Other than that, he's OK. It's amazing to see that so many NBA players are a jump shot away from being a factor.
I know that he used to play some PG in Utah, which suggests above average ball-handling abilities for a player his size. He was also pretty good passing off the dribble last year in my view, and I didn't notice many ball-handling turnovers from him. I definitely trust his ball-handling more than Head.
snyder won't do jack for us. maybe another team. not us. i don't think we need his skillset on this team. We do need more shooters like luther head though.
i agree with the original poster, Snyder was great for us in the limited minutes he received in the beginning of the season. he was the only rocket guard that would take it to the rim for high percentage shots.
I too am intrigued by Snyder but unsure of his abilities as he hasn't played much. From http://www.82games.com/0607/06HOU5C.HTM: Snyder appears to be better suited to play SG than SF, at least on defense. His eFG% is quite promising as a SG: 52.1% for him and 41.8% for his opponents. Those numbers look SUPER, but the tiny sample size leads us to wonder how much they are worth. As a SF eFG%: 45.9% versus 45.3%. He may not have the size to play SF, but may lack the shot to play SG. It's frustrating. Head is a better player than Snyder (at least now), but Head also has a lot more value. Trade Head for an upgrade at PF or SF.
I love Snyder but it depends on what we do with rafer Rafer/James Tracy/Francis Battier/Bonzi Scola/HayeS Yao/Deke However if we trade rafer Francis/James Tracy/Bonzi Batter/Snyder Scola/Hayes Yao/Deke Personally i think he'll either get traded or he'll rot on the bench. it will come down betwen him and bonzi who will get the backup swingman minutes. given bonzi is supposedly in reat shape and is roaringto go, it dosent bode well for Capitan Kirk.
Wow that's bad. I can vouch for this, as my best part of my personal game is my shooting. I'm right handed, but I've shot left handed before from the stripe, and it's not that much harder. But I have really good shooting form. Either I just have good left hand coordination, or I'm seeing a negative inference that doesn't exist, or Kirk Snyder just isn't a good shooter at all.
If i remember correctly he hurt his wrist on some1's back going up for a shot. He slammed his wrist into the dude while going up
Someone tell me why people think Snyder's bball IQ is low. What are the conditions of a player with a low IQ? Maybe turnover-prone, mistake-prone, can't finish plays, or misses offensive and defensive assignments... Does Kirk show any of that?
Snyder has a descent game and got some serious hops and strong finisher. I won't be surprise if Adelman will try to utilize his strength and talent.
