This was spawned off by a mini-argument in the "KG to Celtics" thread, so let's get everyone's take on this... 1) Spurs: Duncan/Parker/Genobili 2) Suns: Amare/Nash/Marion 3) Rox: Yao/McGrady/Francis 4) Celts: KG/Pierce/Allen 5) Bulls: Wallace/Gordon/Deng 6) Mavs: Nowitski/Howard/Terry 7) Blazers: Oden/Aldridge/Roy 8) Magic: Howard/Lewis/Turkoglu That's all I could think of...feel free to add more to the list.
I knew a poll like this was going to pop up soon. I voted for Celtics, because as much as I would hate to admit, KG > Yao, PP < Tmac, Allen > Francis.
Nash > any guard you put here Amare ~= Any forward/center except Duncan Marion > the third wheels of all the other teams, Ginobili, Francis, Pierce, Carmelo to name the best So Phoenix's top three are best in my book. San Antonio won because they had 6 players on the court, one of them in black and white stripes.
I can't decide between the spurs and the suns. I think when one of the star players in the trio is a point guard, that trio has the upper hand over the others.
Without a question its the Spurs, they have won like 4 championships in 8 years? Marion, Amare, and Nash are fun to watch but haven't even made it to the finals. Most people who pick Rockets are just homers because we haven't even made it out of the first round in over a decade. Celtics best talent wise but who knows how it will play out.
#1 trio)KG/Pierce/Allen #2 trio)Amare/Nash/Marion #3 trio)Duncan/Parker/Genobili The trio for the Spurs is somewhat overrated, they play well together by complimenting each other well.....and they also they play for a superior TEAM, but based on talent itself they are probably third/fourth.
do i need to remind you that 3 of the those 4 championships are a joke.... meaning their first one was against an 8th seed new york knicks (shortened season as well).... their second was against a joke new jersey nets team (carter wasn't even on it)... and this last one against the cavs... come on..are you kidding me.... offcourse the one against Pistons is commendable.
Remember NBA Street (3 on 3)? Replace Mobley with TMac. I'm rather suprised the Rockets aren't running away with this poll. Is this a fansite or what? Get your flags and banners out.
Does it matter who the championship game was against? They had to come out of the West they had to beat Kobe Bryant Shaquile and the Lakers, they had to beat Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, and Amare to get to the finals. You must also be part of the excuse the reason the Rockets won their two championships was because Michael Jordan retired. I would take 4 "joke" championships anyday over none. Because the teams listed as the best trio all I have a total of 0.
I'm really excited to see how Ray Allen and KG play off of each other. Both are underrated passers who know how to win. Pierce is a great asset to have but he's an isolation player, I wouldn't want him taking tough fall away jumpers in the 4th when I have Allen and KG on my team. If Pierce can prioritize his post up game and penetration over poor shot selection, no question the #1 trio is KG + Allen + Pierce.
Until proven otherwise ON THE COURT, I would have to say the Spurs. Like all of you, I am anxious to see how the new Rockets play against them. I don't know that we have a All-Star trio, that has to be proven. The past is not the present.
I think our team is FAR superior to the Celtics, but I think their trio is better. I think the celtics have the best 1-2-3 punch in basketball now. They just have NO depth. p.s. You left off the Nets with Kidd, Jefferson and Carter.
In the other thread I said the Suns, but I changed my mind....Spurs. If you take into account defense (Duncan & Ginobili, flopping or not), it's pretty obvious.
