cd is pushing morey to hire dean cooper as his asst gm... i also heard pete babcock was in the running and that razone (?) planted his own name in the chronicle to try to drum up a salary offer that was better in detroit.

It will be good to have a traditional basketball guy working with Morey.

If Cooper does get the job he will still do the same thing he does now. Morey makes all the calls and won't be taking much advice from Cooper

Is Morey going with CD's choice of Dean Cooper or an outside choice?

DennisCD, are you with the organization or something, or a close friend?

What do you base that statement on?

Dean was a head basketball coach at the University of Buffalo back in the day. Rudy brought him in in the late 90's, but I'm not sure what role he had back then. Probably video coordinator/scout... Jerry Colangelo brought him in to work under Rudy scouting for Team USA last summer, and I believe he will contnue to do that through the 08 Olympics.

Isn't CD still a consultant? I wouldn't think Morey would go into his first year as the guy without listening to someone. It needs to be someone he trusts and will listen to.

Is it socially acceptable to have 2 nicks? I've noticed several people have them. It doesn't bother me, but I'm curious. What's the advantage?

Morey isn't making these decisions in a vacuum. He's consulting scouts, assistants and Les on every move. You can count on it.

denniscd and IC2000... since you insiders are both here, let me ask this:

    Is Morey shopping Battier?

[If that's the kind of information Morey lets people in the organization know, that is... denniscd said Morey's pretty secretive about these things]
