unfathomable for a guy who didn't play until he was 15. very interesting when he is talking about how soccer footwork led to the dream shake.

"they know you're going to turn, they just don't know which way... or when."

Funny he mentions playing 3 on 3 with his brothers at the end. Brought back a lot of memories. Some of the most fun we ever had was pickup games in his driveway in Northgate. Taju, Afis, and dream taking on all comers. He used to stick us with Akin.

The consummate professional on and off the court, there aren't enough positive words that can be said about the man! Any time I get a chance to see Hakeem highlights, it brings back some seriously fond memories. :)

Thanks JD. The Dream Shake is the most wonderful move that I have ever seen on a basketball court.

if i could go back in time i'd do some of this
    see jesus
    invest in microsoft
    save MLK
bring Hakeem 20 yrs ago to the future
and I might put the Rockets GM at gun point to trade for the 3rd pick and get MJ, then Clyde.
Someone better make a time machine sooner or later.

i know there were more centers in the league than David Robinson.

Anyone else find it funny that all the highlights were of the mermaid?

I love when he was talking about the opposing crowd's "Ooh!" I used to live for that, and it would never fail. They wouldn't expect it, the defender wouldn't expect it, nobody would. Only Hakeem.

It's so nice to see someone who truly loved, and still loves, the game for the game. You could see it in his eyes and in his smile when he was talking about playing 3 on 3.

I love that man. No homo.

Beautiful. Thanks, Junkyard Dog. There's no question in my mind that if Dream wanted to, he could give us 15 wonderful minutes a game, even at his age. Truly a dream. Damn, Hakeem still looks to be in great shape. Thanks for the memories. Just watching that brought back so many of them.

there was a vid awhile back that compared yao to hakeem. made by a clutchfans guy, it only had like 5 or 6 moves in it....but anyway i don't call yao's shake dreamy and shaky, more like mechanical and deliberate but still effective at 7'6. it doesnt have the liquidity and dynamism of dream's moves. like, dream could actually change where he was going to shoot from if he read his defender as too close to where he was going, while yao would turn it over or travel (though he does make good passes out of the posts). i'm still a little disappointed at the mobility issues with yao at the end of last season even though I know it was injury's fault, oh well
