Really some of the best concert I've been to were not ones I expected to really blow me away. I was so wrong.

The Who - Madison Square Garden
    The Stones - The Astrodome
    Eric Clapton - The Summit
Jerry Jeff Walker, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson at Tramps in Manhattan (not at the same time).
Lyle Lovett - Central Park, NYC
James Brown - Central Park, NYC
Cirque de Solei - Battery Park, NYC (not music but a MUST SEE).
    Elvis in Vegas (I wish)

As many concerts I have attended, I would have to say Lenny Kravitz at Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas.

WOW, what a show, 4 encores, and his drummer is amazing.

My best experiences have always been at cheap intimate shows... with a cost from $5-7. And I've seen most all of my favorite bands, but I'd have to say that right now my favorite would be:

Dinosaur jr./My Bloody Valentine @ the Masquerade in Atlanta, ~1992.

okay, okay I'll include one more... just b/c of the sheer horror that befell me late one summer in NC:
Ministry, Charlotte, 1992?. I don't think I've ever been so violated in my life. Ministry ****ing rocked. I actually think most of their cds suck... but in person? Oh mY.

    -Radiohead - Aerial Theatre

-Marshall Allen (ex-saxophone player of Sun Ra Arkestra) along with Luqman Ali and two other guys at the MECA Auditorium.

I hate concerts in sports arenas. The sound is too muddy, the bass is inaudible (probably because every sound engineer in the world seems to be having a contest over who can make the ****ing bass drum the loudest) and you're usually too far away to actually see the musicians.
