I do not understand the complaints about the similarities between Mike James and Steve Francis. If we want a certain skill set at the point, then it makes sense that the starter and back-ups would probably be similar players.

Also, both are knuckleheads and Stevie's knee might be crocked.

francis and james are not really that similar.

james can play catch-and-shoot or penetrate.

francis can penetrate, but he's also strong enough to post up.

both are similar in strengths but actually they can bring different things to the table.

It's sad that a couple of years back you could say that Mike James is a poor man's Steve Francis but now we are arguing who should be traded and who should start, while their age/salaries differences are not that much at all.

Personally I'd still say that Mike James is a broke man's SF. I just don't see what James could do that SF couldn't.

    Sad.

We had a playoff game where 4 players scored. Four. TOTAL!

oh btw did I mention that I fking hate James' attitude, the whole self-proclaiming 'MJ' thing? what has he done exactly, besides a statistically good one year stint with a lottory bound Raptors?

People are so gonna be disappointed when they realize that 'MJ' is nothing but a joke, let alone competing a spot with SF.

I say we trade 'MJ' for JHO while we still have a chance.

    Sad.

we had one person that could create for himself and finish last season. i'm all for adding as many other guys who have that ability as we can get. james and francis are both welcome additions.

exactly what you said. and the poster above stating "4 players scored last year in a playoff game on this team" i think breaking or tying a record.

of course now people in this thread complaining that we are getting players now for this season coming up that "score too much to play with tmac and yao" talk about being negative no matter what happens.

No it wouldn't. The Rockets traded for him which he had no control over. They also paid for his trade kicker which he had an option of waiving but didn't, ie he didn't do any favors/give up anything for the Rockets to get back to Houston.

Why do you want to start trading our depth away now? Mike James and Francis are different players. James complments Yao and Tmac better because hes a much better spot up shooter and 3 pt shooter. Francis needs the ball to be effective so he'll come off the bench when Tmac and Yao come out.

One guy has a 1.6 ast/to ratio, the other guy has 2.5 ast/to ratio and a 3 ast/to ratio when he was in Houston. You use one guy after the other guy has 2 consecutive turnovers.

I dunno who should be the player to get cut, but I'm for giving Rafer another chance... I mean, I thought he played very well for Toronto in a fast paced, flowing offense, and showed alot of promise. But then JVG's (lack of) fluid offense really made him look bad... Maybe under Adelman he can flourish.

The reason why people on this post voiced their complaints about similarity between SF and MJ is because they, themselves think one dimensionally.

This may be true in oversea or 1950 BB, where PG plays PG and SF plays SF, or where each position is expected to be good at one skill or do one thing well.

So what if SF and MJ play the same style, matter of fact if they are both clone of each other. you think SF can play all 48 mins of BB? Just that reason alone I would keep both on the team, and there are more benefits than just one.

SF/MJ/AB - solid combo for the PG position, AB is a better version of alston at a cheaper, younger price tag. beside if we keep Alston, you think he will have much PT? I would rather give alston's PT to AB.

Specially with the way the refs are for next season with all the gambling craps going on, each and everyone of them with be under the microscope.

That means less bogus calls coming from the refs, and more benefit for penetration.

Another threads like this, of course, we can always trade away James, but if SF and James are both cheap, why not add more talent and depth to our team?
