I know its only been six games into the season, but I want to ask who thinks this is a fun team to watch so far?

I mean the commercial and the Houston media keeps on saying how this is a yound exiting team to watch. Well apparently they are not. Of course us die hard fans will take a win (even like todays). But there may be a reason there are always 7000 empty seats at the laptop.

I personally do not think that we are an overly exiting team to watch. Sure we have our flashes when we are fastbreaking and dunking, making threes, etc. But overall Rudy is still tyring iso offense. Last year I didnt think it was boring, but now I sure as hell do.

How many points per game are we averaging? I know we will improve as soon as Glen comes around. But CAN WE PLEASE ADD SOME MOTION TO THE OFFENSE! Tonite it was Kenny playing some iso. Whats next? Cato being isolated?!?! ;)

Rockets will never have motion in the offense. All they do is depend on the 3. The thing is that everyone on the team can shoot. Rudy cant have a post up game with Kenny and Cato, because he will be the laughing stock of the nba. Rockets need to have a better set offense. They seem very unorganized. They just go up and down shooting shots.

PLEASE RUDY, Find a new playbook you DWI GEEK!

03, when i say stuff like that people call me negative and say i don't know what i'm talkin about. I can honestly say I watch more, much more than most people on this board can dream about. I've played D-1 basketball for 4 yrs and people call me crazy. I watch teams such as Dallas,Milw,Nj, and some other teams and with the Rockets talent, we should score a lot more than we do. I tape the rockets every game, but when i put the game in to watch, i find my self fast forwarding because of the slowness of the game. Rudy just don't believe they took the iso play away from him. I wish they had illegal offense to where more than 1 player can't be opposite ball free throw line extended. Its just boring basketball to watch. I'm not saying play fun and lose, but these coaches find the easiest way to coach and play low risk, 1 person dominates the ball basketball. Just like in football everyone wants to run, run, run, then punt and play defense, its the same in the nba.

I'm sorry other people are doubting your credibility leebigz, but no one will tell me anything becaus I am the most respected member on this board. :D

Anyways I agree with you man. We are winning so we cant complain that much. But the truth is the truth. We are not a fun team to watch (so far). Why cant we run some backdoor screens ala Reggie Miller to get Glen or Mobes open. Its always someone isolating and waiting for the defense to collapse so they can get a three out of it. I am starting to wish the NBA did take away the three like they were thinking about it.

Rudy is not exactly a playbook genius like Karl or Sloan (yuck), I guess his expertise lies in motivating players. But even the players dont seem motivated enough to blow out a freakin team.

I am not doggin Rudy, because without him this franchise is nothing. But come on! Hire an assistant coach that is a genius in motion offense.

During the second and fourth quarters, I realized the chat room is a nice buffer.

Kelvin Cato is healthy, but still sucks.
Mobley and Francis do dumb things with the ball... but God they're good.
    EG weighs 2 lbs.
KT cannot keep a big agile PF from scoring (ie, every PF in the West).

The overall defense pays off though. I'd settle for the Rockets playing 76er ball if Francis was more selfish.

It's great to win but the games have been damn boring. People wonder why there aren't more fans at games and ticket prices are part of that but look at what's out on the floor. At least at home I can change the channel if I'm bored out of my skull.

This was the first game I was able to see and how did I look forward to it.

I found myself paying more attention to what my fantasy bskball team was doing...and D.Coleman is on it. I went from the 32 in. downstairs to my 13 in. and computer upstairs.

And we want prime time? Thank god Francis thought we looked bad...

    RR

ps. I'll still take the win though!!!! Go Rockets!!!!

mind-numbing ISOs, poor shooting and turnovers aside, the Rockets will always be fun to watch as long as Cat and Franchise are in the backcourt. The two of them bring such an infectious joy of the game that it's impossible not to be drawn in by their enthusiasm.

Plus, you never know when Stevie will mess around and slam on an unsuspecting big man. That alone is worth watching.

I live in New York. You want boring? Try MSG.

If I was a casual fan of the Rockets and last night was the first night to see them, I'd say this team is worst than looking at the heat and knicks. If anyone ever wants to see good ,fundamental basketball, look no further than up the road at dallas, sac,nj,orl, milw, and a few other teams. Its not about being fancy and turning the ball over like Jason Williams, it has to do more with just running all the time and getting into your sets quickly. Tommy Heison formerly of Boston Celtics said when he coached them, they ran after turnovers, makes, and misses. He said in practice if the point guard didn't push the ball up everytime, he had wind sprints to do. Thats a good startegy because its all in the mentality of running that it becomes second nature.

People tend to think run means fast breaks all the time which is not the case. A consistently running team just gets into their offense quicker and execute quicker than a team that tends to try to set up a play all the time. Its just the knowledge of the guards, forwards and centers to run to their spots and maybe the first shot you get might be the best you'll get. I watched the Nets play Seattle and you should see the way Van Horn,Kittles,Martin and the other guys blast down the court because they know it might be a dunk or layup or open jumper in transition. Its just fun to watch those teams and not the Rockets, I'm sorry.

p.s. it would be nice to start the offense in the middle of the floor sometimes too.

They are fun but if you suffer from high blood pressure or an irregular heartbeat then it might kill you...

Boring as hell, judging from last night's game.

It's a testament to how much of a fan I am, as I had to stay awake til 2:30 AM to watch the whole game...

specially as I had to get up 6:30 to get to work!

But it's a win, and that's what counts!

That still does not explain why there are so many empty seats out there. I mean we are 5 freaking one!!!And the people that are there just sit around, drinking their beer, and never seem excited. Yesterday, the loudest i heard the fans was during a timeout when clutch and turbo were throwing t-shirts into the stands. And we had a 2 point game on our hands!!!! now that is surely pathetic!!!!

Do you think it has anything to do with playing down to the level of competition?

    Last week's Philly-Dallas game wasn't exactly a barnburner either.

I highly doubt Rockets-Mavericks would be boring.

Thats true, but Dallas did score almost 100 (99) on philly. The same philly team that we played and scored whatever. Its going to be fun when we go small and dallas goes small when we play. Sice I've been watching them, when Dallas plays Hardaway,Nash,Finley,Howard, and Dirk, they have really put up somepoints, the same when the bucks put Mason at center and bring in thomas with the big three, now that been some good basketball.

On a similar note, I want to see a Mooch, Steve, Cuttino, T Mo, Eddie Griffin small-ball lineup in a year after the latter two have gotten some games under their belt, as Jeff brought up awhile back.

I think Milwaukee's going to be scary for quite awhile if they can keep their core together.

You know what I've noticed about Dallas,Milw,Sac,Nj, and some of the other high scoring teams? They have players not designated shooters. They just have player that can do it ll. shoot, score, rebound. Other than Bradley in their starting 5, and johnson in Milw, they just have players. No where does it says you have to have designated 3 pt shooters like Rice and Walt. If you put players and scorers out there, they'll make up for that somehow. Look at Grant Hill, he's never been known as a three point threat, but he can just score. Thats the what I like. i can see if ou have such a dominant inside force like Shaq, you just ry to get your hands on anyone decent, but after the Lakers got rid of their 3pt threat in Rice, they lost 1 playoff game. We need players , not specialist.
