Is it too early to start talking about the 2008 Draft? Strengths: Point guard. Probably the deepest crop of PG's in a while. That is, if they declare. As many as 7 PG's could go in the 1st round (Mayo, Rose, Collisen, Lawson, Bayless, Augustin, Gordon). Dominic James and Ronald Steele were slated as 1st rounders going into 2007, but both had poor seasons. Alot of power forwards and centers as well. Weaknesses: Experience. Most 1st rounders will be underclassman, with the top 5 picks being underclassman. Of course, if the freshman don't declare, then upperclassman will move up the charts and the talent of the 1st round will be diluted IMO if the freshman stay at school. As of right now, the Rockets could still use a true SG behind Tracy. Luther is an undersized 3pt specialist and Bonzi is a PF in a SG body. Brandon Rush would give us versatility in playing both SG and SF and has size and athleticism. Could still improve on his consistency, but he has alot of the tools we could use.
Chase Budinger from Arizona can score pretty well and is very athletic. He can play the 2 or the 3. http://nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/chasebudinger.html
Brandon Rush would be a great addition to our team. He has great size at 6'6 and top athletic abilities. He can shoot it with anyone in the country, and showed last year that he can slash to the basket. The only concern right now is his injury. He is known to play too pasive at times, but he really emerged in the NCAA's last year. He is really everything the Rockets lack, and could play the 2 or the 3 in the NBA because of his size and defense.
