No kidding, krockets must be an 8 year old kid with a Luther Head jersey. I don't intend to be rude to the kid, or girl, but he/she is not only wrong about Head, but starting to make wild, invalid comparisons.
Come on man, stop calling ppl 8 year old when you are just a 1 year old who is crying out loud when someone is disagreeing with you.
Despite what Sportscenter told you, even with the Spurs and Lakers in recent years, Horry wasn't only getting time to hit clutch 3s. He can hold is own at PF and is excellent and playing within a team concept. He is not a liability on defense, even in his old age. Head is a major, major defensive liability in the prime of his athleticism because he is an undersized SG and lacks the skills to play PG. Head is a great spot-up 3pt shooter. I will not argue that because it is a fact. Despite that proficiency, he is still an overall liability because of his ineptitude in other areas.
Yes, you should say that and then say nothing more on this topic so I don't have to waste my time trying to show you the truth.
I am not saying Head is Horry or Mobley, I am just saying Head might go that route.. Head has the 3 point shooting and clutchness now, so if he add a defensive side to that, he could get a nich just like what Mobley and Horry do..
The problem is he can't play PG so you have Head on the court along with your team's PG. That gives you 2 minis in the backcourt forcing Head to often cover the other team's SG, which he can't do. There is no defensive niche for him to carve because he can't man the PG position and, in turn, defend the other team's PG. Head's inability to play point forces him to be a SG and a defensive liability. Next.
Of course I think it is the truth as do many professional experts and NBA analysts. I hope the best for Head. Unfortunately, that will ultimately be overseas where his relative talent will allow him to get minutes.
Only PF I want on the roster is David Lee. Don't really fancy Haslem or Foster. Anyway, I thought the Rockets goal now would be to cut down on the roster and trim salary to avoid the luxury tax? So if we can overpay for Haslem, why not just overpay for him? Unless there are other possible trades coming up, we won't have to worry about too many contracts on the roster then.
Everyone can say "my opinion is the truth, as do many professional experts and NBA analysts." I can say the same thing as u did, but at the end of the day, only facts count, and at this point, we won't know if Head will remain in NBA in 2 years.. So we should see..
One problem is that NY doesn't want to let go of Lee. The other problem is that it isn't a matter of overpaying Lee. He makes only 990K next season. He is as cheap as they come and carries probably the greatest real value compared to his contract than any other player in the league. Why would NY let go of him? BTW, Foster is an even better rebounder than Lee and is at least being discussed in trade scenarios. I would love to have Lee, as would probably every other team in the NBA, but Foster is the one who is accessible and worthy of trade discussion.
1) It doesn't matter which position you play, if you can't play defense, you are a defensive liability. 2) There are 30 teams in NBA, not every team focus on defense. (ie. Pheonix) 3) Once again, Head is just a 2nd year rookie, he can still learn how to defense. I guess this is the area you and I have the most difference..
I walked by Morey's office Friday and this is what I saw... 1) Garnett 2) Camby 3) Lee 4) Haslem 5) Hayes Number 1 still wasn't crossed off so I can only assume that it's still in the works. Then I heard, "Come on Kevin...pick up the phone...".
Clearly, if you get this deal done then we're an elite level squad. I'm still not sold on Francis, Scola (rookie) and Brooks (another rookie) but if we acquire Haslem, which would immediately turn a position of weakness into one of strength, we are just too deep and good for another first round flame out. Regardless of how the other players turn out I think we would springboard into contention. Even if we got Foster instead that is legit power at the position. Too many bigs at that position kill us to be satisfied with where we are now. -- Either way we get quality and consistent contribution from a spot that's been sub-par for us.
