    PG: James/Francis/Brooks
    SG: McGrady/Head
    SF: Battier/Wells
    PF: Scola/Hayes
    C: Yao/Doleac/Butler

    Inactives: Snyder/Reed/Landry

I would keep Head as he's still on his rookie contract and Bonzi may not be here after this year. For those that don't, then the other option would be to trade him for a backup PF to replace Hayes instead. That would then put Snyder on the active roster.

    Alston--Traded for Doleac
    Mutombo--Let him walk
    Harris--Cut
    Sura--Cut/Buyout
    Lucas--Trade for 2nd round pick
    Novak--Cut

I don't think so. Some players will have to be cut. Many just have no value.

Reed might not have been targetted by Morey after all.

We saw what we'll get this year from Bonzi last year. Other than his miraculous 3/4 court shot, he did nothing positive in 21 min/game when he thought he was healthy. Novak was really bad, but Bonzi might have been the worst player on the Rockets. I don't care what he has done in past. Bonzi Wells sucks horribly at this point in time.

I have to disagree. We saw an overweight Bonzi come into camp and JVG's ego and eyes light up knowing he could flaunt his power and authority over everyone by making an example of him and installing fear. He probably never wanted Bonzi to play a minute after that to show he had absolute control and didn't want people to think he could cave in. He also never bothered attempting to develop rookies because he had no idea how to actually coach, only how to preach defense over and over. He did learn under Riley who wasn't exactly coaching rookies. As far as offense, he let T-Mac control that.

Novak and V-Span might have been alot better than most people thought if they were brought up on just about any other team. I don't blame V-Span one bit wanting out so he could be an All Star instead of a bench player. I won't bash a guy either who's gonna take less money to play than sit. We did scout them heavily and draft them for a reason. JVG only resorted to young players when he had nowhere else to turn.

Bonzi could very well be comeback player of the year and SF3 could be 6th man of the year if he plays backup to MJ. Or it could be vice versa. The only thing better to happen (besides the title) is Scola wins ROY. I'm assuming Brooks won't have a shot with the limited minutes this year. :)

As a second round draft pick we do not have to sign Landry to maintain his rights. Where he goes until we sign him is up to him. We can not designate him to the D-League but he can go on his own.

Deke was counted twice but Elyahu was omitted.

You think the Rockets wil cut Bonzi and Landry?!!

First, Bonzi may well be the starting SG because he is such a perfect fit for the Adelman system.

Second, you honestly believe they bought a first pick in the second round to dump him? Granted, I would have selected 10 or 12 others before Landry, but IMO the Rockets won't just toss out an investment like that.

Novak is on the bubble, but he was one tool that may be needed, and he is very inexpensive. He may well be traded or go to the NDBL but he won't he cut.

Hayes may make the roster as a 12th man, but Harris has no chance. Both are midgets at their position, and Harris is barely at the NBDL talent level.

    Now, who gets cut?

Discounting trades which could change the lineup:

    Locks:

    Francis / James
    Bonzi / Snyder
    McGrady / Battier
    Scola / Butler
    Yao / Mutombo ---- 10-man rotation

    Pinesters:

    Reed / Hayes ------ 12

YoYoing Between the NBA and NDBL:

Brooks, Landry and Novak ----- 15

    Gone With the Wind:

    Alston -- trade
    Head -- trade
    Lucas -- future second rounder
Sura -- trade / cap relief

    Overseas(oning):

    Newley / Eliyahu

I realize Harris a Rice kind of guy, but what is the fascination with him? He got a non-guaranteed contract as "insurance," but he will count his lucky stars if the Rockets so much as choose him for seasoning in the NDBL. Yes, he did great in the summer league, but it was the summer league for heaven's sake.

Brooks is going to be in the rotation, with an excellent chance of starting at the 1 by midseason.

When it was Mike James and Rafer Alston, I would have agreed. IMO, with SF3 and James taking all the minutes at PG, Brooks will spend some time with the team but most of it will be in the NDBL gaining instruction and experience as a true PG. Moneyball himself said the draft choices were for the future.

Are you serious? Even after we get rid of 2-3 PG's, i seriously doubt the rest will all get injured at the same time.

I would think Rafer gets dealt along with others for an athletic swingman and a PF while Stevie finds some playing time at the 1 and perhaps even more at 2 guard.

JVG played him 21 min/game when he could. But go ahead and blame JVG for Bonzi's sucking. Just don't get your hopes up.

Ok, for all those that are trying to pump Harris, I like the guy, but no way do the rockets keep him in place of a guy who has a guaranteed contract(reed). If reed doesn't have a guaranteed than I can see it, otherwise it's a definite no.

No way the Rox, buy a second round pick and than dump him, that's just bad business, he'll get signed to a minimum contract and get shipped out to the D-league.

From all the interviews I've listened to and watched, everyone (RA, Morey & Tmac)is very high on Snyder (Tmac was praising him and talking about how Snyder just didn't get the minutes to prove himself, although I see him being too similar to Bonzi, without the post presence and rebounding).

I see Rafer getting traded here's hoping it's along with Reed (although it can't go through till the 14th of August) for Haslem.

JLIII as mentioned everywhere is likely gone for a 2nd rounder.

Sura, gets released or is kept on and used at the trade deadline, if he's kept on they are going to have to get rid of butler in a trade hopefully or not sign Hayes, which would be too bad as I'm a big fan of Chuck, but it's just the way things roll.

Francis - Come on back home
Brooks - Chip on his shoulder (no really he actually has a chip if you look closely)
James - Something to prove after last season
Bonzi - Last chance to stick in the L
Snyder - Highflyer who can D up
    Head - Stretch the D
    Tmac - 25/6/6
Battier - Do anything that's asked of him
Scola - Starter and can play center against the likes of Phoenix or GS and most other teams who don't have dominant centers when Yao is resting
Novak - Someone to help deter defenses from collapsing on Yao & Tmac
    Butler - 3rd string Center
    Yao - 25 & 10
Deke - Great locker room guy, plus I just want to hear him talk again.
Haslem (hopefully) - Can play faster 4s on the perimeter, likes of Dirk and Marion and Odom and still bang inside.
Chuck - Hustle, Hustle, Hustle! Knows his strengths and plays to them.

    LOL!

we are not cutting bonzi, novak. harris is signed to a non-guarented contract so he will be at training camp but probably out for the season.

we trade rafer, head, chuck, pick if possible for a PF(haslem)

we send lucas somehwere, who cares

landry IS going to the d-league. he wasnt impressive against scrubs on the summer league

Adelman is pretty high on Brooks' speed and ability to put in 3's. The only concern is his defense but for like 8-10 mpg(JLIII got 8:11 mpg in the last two season), I dont think that's a problem.
