Hey guys, So I recently got a new Dell Precision. With my old laptop I'd watch movies on my tv using the S-video output but this new Dell doesn't have a S-Video outlet. Is there another solution I could use? Do they make special extensions? And no my TV doesn't have a VGA output. Thanks!
Are you quite certain that there's no S-video out? According to the dell.com (see product details at: http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/precn_m ), the port should be there. Which model Precision do you have? Anyway, there was a product I used a loooong time ago called a Tvator (see http://www.cir.com/pc/tvator/tvator.htm). The quality was sketchy, at best, but it might do in a pinch.
Your laptop should have VGA out port so just get a cheap adapter like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=250314601&pf_rd_i=B000G793E6
Did you even look at the reviews for that thing? Not only does it NOT work with laptops, but it also outputs a black and white image.
I recently bought my 16 year son a 15.4"HD, HP Pavilion dv6500t, with a T7300 Core 2 Duo 2.00 GHz CPU, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB on the new Santa Rosa motherboard, 2 GB of DDR2 memory, 160GB HD, and it came with an HDMI port, as well as the other conventional ports, along with a 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS. I don't know why I typed that, but the HDMI port is cool, if you have an HDTV with HDMI. That, and I can't believe we got it for him, after he combined with his sister to turn his "old one" into a rather large coaster. It kills me that it blows away my PC playing games. (I need more coffee!!!)
yeah ive got the dell precision m65, nothing except a vga port. pretty ****ty not sure what i could do to hook it up to my tv.
that same page brings this one up... http://www.amazon.com/E-Book-PC-VID.../B0000A0BOB/ref=de_a_smtd/002-1260077-4134462 edit - this one looks better http://www.amazon.com/Video-Convert...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185151775&sr=1-2 and better still http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185151775&sr=1-4
The point is - converters do exist - just showing one as an example. And no, I didn't read the review because its an example of what needs to be bought and I wasn't buying it.
