In this scenario I'd speculate Heat would want to try and include Doleac with Haslem. Rockets on the otherhand will try to dump salary to help get/stay under LT.

    Haslem + Doleac = 9.17M

    9.17 x 125% = 11.4625M

    Alston + Head + Snyder + Reed + Lucas = 10.23M
    Rockets save 1 million.

    Williams Alston Lucas Quinn
    Wade Head Cook
    Wright Snyder
    Walker Reed Novak Simien
    Shaq Mourning

    James Francis Brooks
    McGrady Bonzi
    Battier Harris Novak
    Scola Haslem Hayes Landry
    Yao Doleac Butler

And you thought Olajuwon/Barkley/Drexler had problems staying healthy on the court together? Yao/Mac/Camby miss 25 games a year. I am just kidding though. Camby would be an even better fit than Haslem. And even more of a pipe dream.

I am not prejudiced against Haslem. I quoted the positive with the negative. Rebounding is good, but Hayes and Landry can do that. Why seek more duplication of undersized PFs?

Foster is taller but couldn't find the rim even if were lowered four feet. Ziggy, you are right IMO about Camby and putting three injury-prone players in the starting lineup.

Hottoddie's suggestion about acquiring Jamaal Sampson -- tall, rangy, inexpensive 4/5 who does not duplicate Yao or Butler -- may be the best solution, all factors considered.

Well I think Haslem is too expensive, especially when we have Scola. If we got Haslem and Scola dola made a slow start to the season as he adapts to NBA style of basketball, we would play Haslem the most, we might even end up with another VSpan situation which could then be refered to the Scola Dola Scenario.
Camby on the other hand would be playing mainly the center backup and would enable Yao Ming to play more effective minutes, Camby would be effective but would not effect the Scola Dola Development, in the same way.
Remember we have just brought over a star European Power Forward and he needs every chance to develop into a NBA Star Power Forward. I am sure that he has come under the impression that the Rockets need him to play a starting position. We can't tell two players the same story without causing the Rockets to get a bad reputation for false promises!

We don't know if Landry can really do anything at the NBA level yet. Haslem brings everything that Hayes brings but with a little more size and a much better jumper. Add to that he is on a reasonable contract and could possibly be attainable for players that wont be in our rotation and that is what the fuss is about.

What we need is someone who can contribute to a championship, not another project that might not ever pan out.

    Seattle is shopping Nick Collison.
    Seattle Times: "Trading
for Thomas also makes Nick Collison expendable. Like Thomas, Collison is
a rugged 6-9 forward who can defend inside while starting 56 games last season.
He's coming off a career year (9.6 points and 8.1 rebounds), and is owed $25
million on a deal that expires after the 2010-11 season. There's also a
possibility the Sonics will trade either Luke Ridnour or Earl Watson because
both point guards share similar skills, were disappointing last season and have
    three years left on contracts."

    Player 07/08 08/09 09/10 10/11
    Nick Collison $5,750,000 $6,250,000 $6,250,000 $6,750,000
    Udonis Haslem$6,050,00 $6,575,000 $7,100,000

They both make about the same money. Collison is signed for longer.

    Any Intrest in Nick Collison?

    1 roster spot open (Hayes)

I may have been unclear. Haslem is a duplication of our PFs. Scola will be taking the lion's share of the minutes. He is only an inch taller than Haslem but has more offense and (hopefully) as much rebounding skill. Hayes and Landry are relative midgets at their position -- but only two inches shorter than Haslem. Weight-wise, Udonis is the lightest of them all.

Landry had better be a diamond hidden amongst lumps of coal since we passed up Fazekas, McRoberts and Davis et al for him.

Mcgrady is right Haslem is a big piece to there roster.. As a matter of fact he is the only legit PF they have.. We would have to include Chuck and next year 1st round is going to suck anyways most likely above 26.

Miami knows they need to rebuild soon because they have alot of old fogies and need some young blood.

Rafer,Chuck,Kirk + 1yr would definately make them consider. As of right now I doubt they trade to us because who can fill Haslem shoes in Miami?

WTF is up with the Haslem love?

He's not even as good as Chuck Hayes.

The idea that he is a good defender and rebounder is a myth.

    Hayes - 13.9 PER, .587 TS%, 17.5 rebound rate (very good), 9.6 assist rate, 10.7 usage rate
    Haslem - 13.7 PER, .523 TS%, 15.5 rebound rate (average), 9.7 assist rate, 15.7 usage rate

From the PF position, we need a low usage, high efficency guy who can rebound and play defense. Hayes is clearly superior to both.

But Hayes is only 6'6"! Haslem is tall! He must be a better defender!

    No. Wrong.

    Defense:
Hayes - 98 Drtg (posession scored by opponent per 100 posessions)
    Haslem - 105 Drtg

There's also this new stat called "Defensive Composite Score" that compiles the Drtg, and +/- defensive stats developed from 82games.com that is on a 1-100 scale.

    Hayes? A whopping 91.
Haslem? A 39. THIRTY NINE. Good for 3rd to last on his semi-decent defensive team.

No to Haslem. Just because he was a starting PF for a championship team doesn't mean he's right for us. Or even a good player at that.
