Going small is for losers...Yao is going to be our best mis-match on the floor at all times. He's going to have a good 6 inches and 50 pounds on everyone he plays. We can't sub him out to match up with a loser lineups from little D.

As great as a defensive coach as JVG was, I believe his refusal to go to a zone to cover up Yao's deficiencies hurt us...Adelman will have no such qualms.

but dallas lost b/c dirk was soft. dallas supposed to match up perfectly but dirk is so soft he just stood outside and never went inside.

offensively, yao can do fine v. any team. but on D, he would be in foul trouble so quick.

but this ability, we can run w/ any team for 3-4 mins, and put yao back in and give them a change of pace immediately.

When Aderman came in, when steve came then, we have so much choices to beat Dallas.

exactly. dallas always seems to double tmac on the perimeter.

on the other hand, phoenix always double/triple yao on the inside.

and we struggle b/c JVG's inability to adjust.

don't fret my friend. now we can play ANY STYLE ANY TIME ANYWHERE ANYPLACE.

also do u remember josh howard's quote b4 the jazz series about our bench: I CAN'T NAME ANYONE OFF OF THEIR BENCH.

we need to ask him that question again.

like everyone said, this applies much more to phoenix, as they like to double and triple yao more so than dallas, and have been much more effective doing so. dallas tends to swarm tmac, but i think that disadvantage will be less of a factor with the new offensive threats. i dont think dallas will be a bad matchup for us at all, being so much quicker. it is preposterous to suggest that we are better off without yao, simply because of the mismatch factor.

you are correct that we will run much better (and presumably more) small ball with the guard glut. keep in mind that the roster is definitely not final so its total crapshoot to speculate these kind of matchups at this point, when it really comes down to 48 minute execution months from now. its easy to act like a gm in 2k7, but the nba isnt played on paper.

also, the small man lineup your propose, with 6-3 sf3 as the small forward(!??) would get stomped in 2k7

i still like the mavs lineup better. Terry, Stackhouse, Howard, Dirk, and Harris...all these guys can shoot the 3 and penetrate.

the rockets only have t-mac and james who can shoot 3s and penetrate.

im just saying the mavs have more versatile players than us. harris, stackhouse, terry, dirk, and josh howard. they can all shoot and slash. dont forget devean george always kills us too.

How soon some of you forget that the Sura, Wesley, James or Sura, Wesley, Barry lineups (both w/o Yao) were a key ficture in taking Dallas to 7 games in 2005. And that was under JVG. Those lineups got up and down the court. It took Avery 7 games to finally figure it out. And those were some old legs out there. Remember Padgett....haha

Dallas and Phoenix will continue going small in key minutes against us until we have an answer. Make no mistake; Aldelman will practice an uptempo, small lineup w/o Yao just in case he needs it for 5-10 mpg. Just to show the other team that going small isn't going to work.

It is called being prepared. It isn't given in to the other team's style. And who is to say we don't go small as our style for whenever Yao rests anyhow.

    haha!

    Release the Hounds!
