With the addition of Francis, we are stacked at guard postions and still thin in the front court. Scola is still a mystery, and should be brought along slowly. While Deke has the heart to return, his age has to be a concern. I think we are two trades away from completing a dream offseason and to solve the personnel overflow problem as well. 1. trade James + Snyder for Haslem 2. trade Head + Sura for Foster I think both trades are highly likely because the Pacers and the Heat are both desperate for a backup PG. Francis and James seem to me are overlaping. The James deal was done when Francis was up in the air, so it's time to correct it. Have a preliminary agreement with the Heat, and wait till the end of August to complete the trade. I feel James alone is not enough for Haslem. We probably have to throw in some talent there. Hate to let Snyder go, but we have got personnel overflow problem, so it makes sense on our part. Indy would also love to have the U of Illinoi star guard back and add some shooting. Plus Head's rookie contract and Sura's expiring contract makes finacial sense for them. After these two trades, our roster: Yao/Foster/Butler Haslem/Scola/Hayes/Landry Tmac/Battier/Harris/Novak Wells/Tmac/Francis Alston/Francis/Brooks Deke as coach. In this lineup, I am opting for Francis coming off the bench to play Boby Jackson's role, Wells starting at SG because he is familiar with Adelman's system, and Tmac shift to his natuarl position SF. Ego clash in this lineup will be minimum and everybody will get his share to shine. It is also built to withstand major injury to our superstars. I can only dream.
I dont think we can trade James away since we just got him. Not at least until December if I am right. Honestly - I'd trade Alston rather than James. And we need to let JL3 go - and im not so sure if I want to sign Deke - he did very well for us last year but we need to start building youth and get them some experience.
Your crazy if you want both of those trades. James cannot even be traded as I recall it as a player cannot be traded twice in the same year. I would love to get Foster so you are money on that one.
Where you're wrong is that the Heat needs a STARTING PG. Williams is so banged up and Payton's so old that they need a new starter. That's why they were trying their hardest to get Mo Williams and is trying to trade for the rights of Juan Carlos Navarro. The point guard that would benefit them more between James and Alston is of course Alston. As for trading away Head and Sura's expiring contract for Foster, sure why not.
this isnt enough already? given we really only had our first round pick, sura's expiring contract and the MLE this offseason we've address our two biggest needs while still keeping sura's contract, getting probably a huge steal in rookie in brooks and getting amazing value on the dollar for our split MLE in an offseason where jason kapano was able to get 6mil/year. there are still some movement to be made to make the roster more balanced but for the most part i have not been this excited for a new season since the mcgrady trade
JL3 is gone to NO already, right. Deke will assume the coach role and bodyguard of Yao on the road. I think James can be traded 60 days after the initial trade, correct?
With Morey as the GM, just make the wish, he is going to get it done. I thought James could be traded 60 days after the 1st trade. If not, I am not sure Heat likes Alston. I dont mind trading Alston, keeping James and have him start.
Why trade James when this team was having a hard time getting to 90 points against the Jazz in the playoffs? Foster is a taller version of Hayes. Sure he's slightly better defensively, but he's the same player Hayes is (good rebounding skills and not much else).
I'll say this: Denver is looking to create cap room and Steve Blake signed with Portland, meaning they really need a PG. Let's get Camby!!!!!
To clarify what has already been alluded to: A team can only deal a player within 3 days of acquiring him through trade - after that, the player cannot be traded for another 3 months. In other words, MJ trade scenarios are unrealizable until around the start of the season.
JVG was the coach and we didnt have a 3rd scoring option. Like I said I think James is overlaping with Francis in a lot of ways. James is a better shooter probably, but either of whom wouldnt want to come after another. Why keep both? It's a clash waiting to happen. I so can see James or Francis b****ing about he should play more to the media. Deke is old. He probably is still capable of pulling down 10+ rebs in a strech of games. But he was useless in the playoff as we all saw. I love Deke though, no disrespect. Foster makes sense because he can play the backup C or the bruiser along side with Yao. Foster to me is a more of able defender than Hayes because his size. We need some musle and hustle in the front court. I love Foster's game. And who else would you like to have outside Foster that matches Sura+Head's salary?
