Clearly, Stevie and Brooks make Rafe and Lil Luke superfluous. But, what does Scola make Reed?

Really, who is Reed? Why didn't he 'summer' in Vegas with the lads? Did DM the GM actually/factually demand his inclusion in the mj deal?

Who are the (most) superfluous (of) Rox 4s?

Assuming the resighting by re-signing of Hayes then what is the minute allocation at the 4? Does Butler see any court time at the 4?

    (Is Deke superfluous?)

Super Fluous minds want to know.

I'm thinking Reed should go to the 1st offer of a bag of chips or less.

And I'm thinking, did Morey really demand his inclusion in the deal? He is the #1 Mystery Man, at least to me???

I thinks he's meant to be an energu guy who plays the 3/4. He'll compete with Harris for a roster spot. Harris will have to outplay him decisively since Reed is guaranteed for 2 years.

I would've made a thread about him as soon as he arrived if I could. I don't watch T-Wolves baskteball (who does?) so I know nothing about this guy. I like his size, 6'8, and we're kinda lacking big wing players (we have Bonzi, Tracy, and Kirk; Tracy's the only guy larger than 6'7, Bonzi will prolly play SF, and Kirk hasn't shown a lot so far). I'm wondering if this Reed guy is the underrated athletic SG/SF I want for this team.

    reed is here to stay.

do you really think les would allow DM to demand this guy be included in the james deal just to cut him?

les doesn't throw away money like that. reed has a spot on the roster for sure.

Yeah he does...Cato, Taylor, Maloney...the list goes on..just kidding

in all seriousness, maybe Reed has enough talent to be the best 3rd or 4th string small forward in the league. As stacked as the Rockets look, that Small Forward position looks a bit thin with only Battier manning the spot. Snyder is there, too, I guess...he's really more of a 2.

Unless the Rockets go with this rotation:

    Yao/Deke/Butler
    Scola/Hayes/Novak
    Tmac/Battier/Reed
    Francis/Head/Snyder
    Alston/James/Brooks/Head

...the 3 position would be ok. However, I doubt the Rockets start such a small back court

I have a couple of questions for those who think Reed is definitely going to be on the team. Because honestly this is all new to me *trades and such.

    1. Why hasn't anyone in the Rockets organization mentioned him since the trade?

    2. Is he so good that no one wanted him to get extra practice for a new system in the Summer league? We were Big man poor in the summer league, it would have been an ideal time to try him out... if Ryan Bowen can play for the TWolves.. Reed could have played for us. Plus Reed was already signed... and doesn't seem to have proven a whole lot in his past play... I mean had any of you really known about him before the Mike trade?

    3. How bad would it be to wait until after his waivers (or whatever they are called in Basketball) have passed on August 14th and trade him then?

Reed is Morey's man, he signed him in Boston. With the way Darryl Moery's legend is growing by the hour, I won't be surprised if Reed turns out to bethe second coming of Sean Marion... Well, I will be surprised, but you know what I mean...

Reed can't be traded till around the 20th of August.

I think its also limited to 1:1 trades.

A 6'8 backup SF... actually pretty high up on the Rox' list of needs. All this attention on the PF... we have Butler, Scola, and Chuck there. Deke and Yao should do well enough in the C for one more season.

Just from the little I've seen, I'd rather have Harris on this team than Reed (I know Harris primarily plays the 3, but he can and has played the 4). Moreover, I think the only way we get Reed is if Landry doesn't make it...so either way Les' money is wasted - either on Reed's contract (unless we trade him somehow) or the money spent on buying the pick for Landry.

For better or worse Charley Rosen seems to like him.

That should be too much of a hassle. I think teams have agreed to deal players in similiar situations before. Anyway that's only a month away and pre-season training is months away.

Yep, he can be traded on his own but not packaged. Rockets need to package though to cut down numbers.

Obviously I agree these are reasonable questions - yet no one seems to be able to offer any clarity.

    Got a feeling this guy's a nutjob:

Majored in Criminal Politics at Mississippi… Joined several NBA and WNBA players in “Operation Rebound” to offer food and assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in his home state of Mississippi… Enjoys listening to music before games… Favorite movie is "Friday"… Favorite magazine is Slam… Favorite memory playing basketball was leading Mississippi to the Sweet Sixteen… Enjoys playing video games and watching movies in his spare time… Favorite basketball player growing up was Scottie Pippen…Wears a size 14 sneaker.

That's quite a rap sheet! Thankfully we have an outstanding citizen on the team in Bonzi Wells to help him clean his act...
