Bonzi is a competitor when the last Krispykreme is up for grabs, other than that I didn't see too much fire last year.

I heard they are going to paint the basketballs to look like Pizzas this year, he is SOOOO going to own.

But I love the competitiveness that the guys they are adding bring to the table, they all hustle and have talent.

Love what Adelman and Morey are doing.....this does not happen without both of them.

When he left the team in tears it was because the McRib had gone away for another year.

    gotta agree

I feel your pain from years past hippie and manram, but the league style is different, and I REALLY dont think Adelman is gonna allow that sort of behavior.

It is the antithesis of a "motion" offense

The advantage of not being thin as wet rolling papers at the guard positions is that if Steve loses his mind, he can be benched easily.

This isnt a situation like last year when Rafer HAD to play cause we had no one else.

No doubt but now we can also plug in another player who is competitive as well.

We missed Sura last year, the team was soft, now, not so much.

I don't laugh out loud too often when reading a post, but I just did. :D That is just a really funny image, but when he is basketball ready, he is a load to defend. Otherwise, he is just a load.

I dont think DoD or NIKE could bust your balls over that. :D

Fact is folks, while Steve isnt the near-max guy he once was...for the amount he is getting and the other factors (teammates, coach/system, hopeful maturity) he is a net positive as an addition to the Houston Rockets.

try to get over your old biases....

This is a different time, different team, and a different Steve Francis (not Franchise any longer)
He has to know what his position is here....not "the guy" anymore....a role player.

LEts at least give him a chance to show he can contribute.

This team is a A LOT tougher. And while it's not so much physically, it's more so mentally, which is a lot more important in some aspects. Morey did well acquiring James and Francis, both of whom are mentally and emotionally tough, as well as battle-scarred Scola and collegiate athletes in Landry and Brooks.

It's pretty odd, actually, because I don't remember any of Adelman's Sacramento teams being tough. Hopefully, he's adopted that asset to his style of coaching.

We can exhaust the opponent PF since he has to guard Scola or Yao, or get killed by them offesively.

It's too bad we got rid of our best source of fire and toughness (Jeff Van Gundy) replaced him with a big softie, and then had to do everything we could to get fiery players (mainly taking on a bunch of knuckleheads) to make up for it. James? Francis? Wells? It's too bad their teams weren't looking to trade us Randolph, Artest, and Wallace, we could have been the new Jailblazers. Ech. So far, I have only really like one offseason move, and that was the Scola trade. Sandpaper is right, this might be the most abrasive Rockets team that I have ever seen.

LOL! I was voting for George McGovern, DD. :p

Great post to start the thread. I agree... we needed some passion, some heart, some lay it all out on the floor and **** tomorrow on this team, and we've added that. The more I think about the moves, the more I like them.

I cannot be certain that we have more heart now but certainly we have more speed and offensive weapons. Last year was quite gut wrenching at times. Especially when the D was there but the O was nowhere to be found.

Like many, I was nervous about what was going to happen this year. Could the Rocks add the pieces they needed? Certainly Van Gundy's departure was a good sign and Adelman's signing was a positive step to a more exiting brand of BB. The draft was a puzzler but it now appears that someone in the front office knew what they were doing. The draft plus the Scola trade and Francis signing have me wondering whether

    1. Morey is damn shrewd
    2. Morey is damn lucky
    3. 2 & 3
    4. Morey is Satan.

In any case in the last two months I have gone from deflated to elated. I can't wait for the season to start (and maybe one more trade?).

    P.S. Dear Santa Morey,

To match the level of excitement of the team can you bring back Calvin to liven up the play by play. Clyde, I love ya but snoooooooze.

the only thing that could make this off season better:

1-get another banger at the 4.

    2-BRINK BACK CALVIN!!!

We haven't had a lot of "heart" the last couple of years. They were very disciplined teams thanks to JVG, but we lacked leaders. I think we have that now.

It's definitely a double-edged sword though. Guys with heart can just as easily be chemistry killers.
