most on this board clamor for developing young players. i like what morey is doing in getting proven players. james 32 francis 30 scola 27 and no normal rookie. get rid of the billy lucas novak type talent and get nba level players. great job morey...you are one helluva an upgrade

Morey has proven the doubters wrong and I am excited for the coming season. The scary thing is that Morey may not be done dealing.

Daryl Morey for Executive of The Year. Seriously, He has a great chance if The Rockets do well this season.

That's what I find the most amazing. We started the offseason wanting to deal VSpan, Sura's contract, JLIII, and JHoward. We've gotten rid of Vspan and Howard and gained James, Reed, Scola, Butler, and Francis. So now we have Sura's contract, JLIII, Reed, and Head/Snyder/Alston to trade. We're only halfway done from where we started.

If nothing else big happens, this offseason would still be a resounding success, but I think Morey might still have one or two moves up his sleeve.

I like what Morey is doing, but let's look at the additions/signings and think about things for a second or two:

    1. Aaron Brooks - unproven
    2. Steve Francis - what does he have left?
    3. Bonzi Wells - was AWOL last year
    4. Luis Scola - unproven in the NBA
    5. Mike James - was awful last year

Now, I don't think Morey is foolish to think all of these guys will work out. Maybe he thinks if two do that's enough.

And actually, he may be right.

But these are all gambles. There's not a single sure thing here...except that a few of these guys will work out.

The only pieces we know what to expect from our the guys like Yao and T_mac, and of course, Shane, Rafer, Head, and Hayes and maybe Mutombo.

The rest are just guys who are going to be bench warmers

But man, doesn't it look exciting????

Dennis, which would you try to unload first in this situation: Alston or Head?

I am not Dennis, I don't possess his insight (of course) yet if it were up to me I would say that Alston is a distraction-in-the-making, supersuperfluous and must be prioritized as a goner.

I think Snyder is more needed to be moved than Head.

(I think I have no idea what to think about Reed.)
