Who do you think are the best five players on the rockets team and in what order, regardless of position?

With the caveat that my knowledge of Luis Scola is based entirely on second hand accounts, and therefore is somewhat speculative, my five would be:

    1. Tracy McGrady
    2. Yao Ming
    3. Shane Battier
    4. Bonzi Wells
    5. Luis Scola

This should be regardless of position, although if the five make up a potentially functional starting line-up, that is OK, too.

It's weird you have Scola and Bonzi on there but don't have Mike James. Did you forget about him? I know Mike James didn't have the best season last year, but he had a better NBA season than either Wells or Scola. :D

    Anyway, my list would be:

    Tracy McGrady
    Yao Ming
    Shane Battier
    Mike James
    Luis Scola

Until Bonzi proves otherwise, he's fat and washed up. But god do I hope he proves otherwise.

We haven't seen Scola play a single game yet AND I was not impressed by the videos of him. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

With how much we're paying for them in the back of my mind:

    1. McGrady (yes he's better than Yao, because he facilitates everything we do)
    2. Yao (obviously, although I worry about his quickness and stamina under Adelman)
    3. Battier (one word: glue)
    4. Mike James (ignoring his stint in Minny)
    5. Hayes (yeah, admittedly, he has essentially no offensive game and is petrified to shoot a 15 footer, but his boardwork, defense, and hustle are unparalleled on the team)

Jury is out on Scola. But I hope he will be 4th by midway of this season.

I don't want to put Scola on the list until I see him play a few games. I don't want Bonzi on the list either because of his horrible showing last year.

While I think Tmac is our best player, I'd be willing to part ways with him before Yao, but my list looks like the following (when playing to their potential)

    1. Tmac
    2. Yao
    3. Bonzi
    4. Battier
    5. James

i dont really know how anyone can say scola is one of the top five on the roster without ever seeing him play an nba game in his entire career, but this is how id rank them

    1. T-mac
    2. Yao Ming
    3. Shane Battier
    4. Bonzi Wells
    5. Mike James

Scola hopefully will be one of the top five on this team, but right now i think its a little too early to say he is

I can tell this much, if Battier is the third best player on this team by the end of the year, we are headed for another first round loss. Lets hope between Scola, Bonzi, James, and whoever else we may add, two of them are better than Battier.

Lets look at the 3rd best player of the contenders from last year.

    Ginobili
    Marion
    Terry
    Rip
    Tie (Kirilenko, Harpring, Giricek)

The were all much better than Battier except Utah, but Utah had 3 of them.

You are out of your freakin mind. If you have one that is. You just put a player you have never seen in a live game and a bench player ahead of the glue of the rockets(battier). That is just flat out stupid.
