Anybody watching this yahoo in the big D driving the flaming rig through the streets? CNN's been showing it for a while.
This is surreal, its amazing that no-one has been hurt by this. I'm going to go out on a limp and say some mid-altering subtance was used.
BGM-Thanks for the B-Day wish. I'm stuck in Calgary for 2 days, then Edmonton for 10. Nice way to spend a birthday, eh? Chance PS-I tossed in the "Eh" for local flavor.
But why was it on cnn.com? I understand the local excitement, but national tv? I think the press is just too sensational.
I beg your pardon? "Stuck" in Calgary!? Welcome to my fair city, eh. What brings you here, and what part of town are you in? I may be able to suggest some things to do.
I'm not far west of Downtown, just south of the Bow River near the Shaganappi Golf course, if that means anything to you. What brings you to Calgary? What do you like to do? There are some reasonably good live music spots not too far from there.
I don't know...a flaming truck chased by cops racing through a major American city might draw some press...
The guy eventually stopped and got out of the truck where police promptly tackled him and took him to jail. Word is that the police had been given authorization to use deadly force to stop the truck and did fire at least one shot into the cab of the truck. I heard on one station that the driver was injured by the shot, but I don't know if that is actually true or not.
Definately a weird situation. When you think of a 'high-speed' chase, an 18-wheeler doesn't usually come to mind. Hey, being born and raised in Calgary, I resent that comment. November may not exactly be the best month to visit, but it really is a beautiful area and its people among the most hospitable (as Pole may attest to). As my fellow Calgarian Grizzled said, there's lots to do there as well. Plus, its the perfect sized city; big enough to be entertained and enjoy a couple of pro sport franchises, while small enough to maintain a close-knit community where you don't fear for your children's safety. So, you best take back what you said ... oh yeah, happy belated birthday. Grizzled, How about those Flames?! You think they can keep it up? Azim da Dream
I think he's coming around Azim. He was out till the wee hours with some oilpatch boys sampling some of Bigrock's finest. He said he had a good time, so I think he's warming up to this cold land. The Flames! How about 'em, eh? I've only been to one game this year, but I've caught a few on the tube. They look good. They're young, and you'd think they have to cool off at some point, but they look solid. Conroy is turning out to be a smart, character player, and Iggy is playing awesomely. Turek is playing great too. They're a playoff team this year, I think.
