    Bucks
    PF: CharlieV
    C: Bogut, Gadzuric

    Kings:
    PF: KT, SAR, Moore
    C: Miller, Hawes
(Artest also logs in minutes at the 4)

This is probably the first time a foreign club is manipulating the draft. Fran Vasquez personally hoodwinked the Magic and chose to stay in Spain.

Whenever you buy a cheap China product at Wal-mart, you are actually helping the big corporations exploit some cheap labors (many of them kids) over there.

True. But that's because Peyton was good enough for the franchise to invest to build a team around him. That's what I am talking about. Look, Troy Aikman went 1-15 his rookie year. The Cowboys were bad during those years. But eventually, they built a team around him with Emmitt and co. and won multiple championships.

It works either way depending on the quality of the player. Strong minded players can do well no matter what situations they are in. Gilbert Arenas is an example.

Hey Eggroll, the NBA is a DRAFT not your local business equal employment companies where you can pick and chose...Me says F%*k the CBA and the Quandong PussyCat. The Buck should held on to Yi's draft and force him from any FIBA competitions (including the Olympic)...now see who meow first...

First impressions are lasting to me and I don't care what mouthpiece is representing Yi, but he's certainly not a player I enjoy hearing about. The more news about him, the less I want to do with him. He's certainly going up on my most hated athletes list.

My biggest problem with this whole situation is that Yi himself has not said much of anything during this time. And when he had spoken, it's to express willingness to play for the Bucks. While the idea of a player not wanting to play for the team that drafted him is certainly not new, that does not seem to be the case here. At least in previous cases, the player himself initiated the standoff with the team. And I can at least understand that. If they are willing to pay the consequences if they're not dealt, then more power to them.

But why in the world are Yi's agent and Chinese team doing all the threatening? I mean, I feel bad for Yi because he seems to be getting some bad advice, by people who are trying to put money in their own pockets rather than looking out for Yi's future.

And what's with all this talk about the "Chinese government"? They're not doing anything. They wouldn't even think about having Yi sit out a year, not with the 08 Beijing Olympics looming in the near future. Heck, if they were controling the negotiations, Yi would probably be signed by now.

what funny is that while RMB keeps increasing its value and dollar decreases, the trade deficit between US and China has only been widening...

Darko Milicic went to a Detroit team that eventually won a championship; and rode the end of the bench for 2 years. Player development is a team-team basis. Some lottery teams have good development programmes.

Think of it this way, considering you're going the "when i'm looking for jobs, i don't end up working for people i don't want work for. i always pick the best offer that i think suits me the best." route:

Not everybody is offered their dream job. Its exactly the same for NBA players. Besides, its not like teams get to pick the players they want. The draft exists to give teams competitive balance. There's also the CBA. Teams also want the best personnel and will use their availabe resources to do so - not excluding the Draft.

Its all part of the game; and if Yi's team studied the system properly, they should have known this. He was drafted by a less desirable team. Sucks for him. But it is in no way an injustice. I don't know where all this "Yi doesn't deserve Milwaukee" comes from...

on top of that the kids have to work on broken glass and if they don't meet their quota, they have a limb cut off (which is fed back to them during the one meal they have a day). also, all the money goes into a giant war machine that is used to torture kittens and mash up puppies and the blood is used to feed the chinese emperors because they believe it extends their life.

    mmm....tortured kitten blood......

    it's sooooooooooooo gooooooooooood.......

If this drags on, I"ll bet that the PRC gets involved and just tells the Guangdong Tigers to get with the program.

So I guess you now clearly understand there is no "stupid NBA monopoly". Being the best is not equal to being a monopoly. I think most of us would be fine with Yi going to Europe and never coming to the NBA.

Great post. Fight the power YI!!!!

Look, if the dude is not happy with where he got drafted then he doesn't have to report. There is no precedent being set here. Sabonis was drafted a long time ago and he chose to stay at home. Vasquez was picked a few years ago and he chose to stay at home. These players have the option to stay in their home countries and still get paid out the wazoo to play ball. If you won't be happy to come over then why come? Yi is using his leverage and I have no problem with it. We never have problems when our teams use leverage to hold players rights ransom. Did any Spurs fans have an issue with them holding Scola ransom for 5 years because they didn't want to bring him over for whatever reason? Where is the justice for him?

Again, no precedent is being set here. Elway, Francis, Kobe and Eli didn't want to report to the teams that picked them. AMERICAN PLAYERS!!!! It just happens that in most cases the players here don't have the option to get paid NBA dollars if they choose to sit out. That's the only difference....

If he wants to play in a higher level comp than the domestic chinese league but in a place with a high chinese population he could always try the singapore slingers :p
