I found this story (below) and it got me to thinking about what kind of impact he could have on our team. I've always been a Kemp fan and I feel that he still has a lot of game left in him if he was in the right situation. I think he said he's going to retire after his contract but you know how that goes. If he finds the right situation then he may just find the motivation to stay in shape and to compete like he used to. Would there even be a way to get him without giving up Mobley, Thomas, Cato, Francis, Anderson or Hakeem? Probably not with that price tag of his, but it's still fun to speculate...... Kemp over the hill? The Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers talked about a deal that would have sent Cavs forward Shawn Kemp to the Sixers for center Matt Geiger and guard Larry Hughes. But Philadelphia backed away from the deal because Kemp will make $45 million over the next two years. The Cavaliers have found that Kemp isn't the explosive player he was even a few years ago. Extra weight, combined with the pounding he takes when he plays out of position at center, have made Kemp what one scout described as "a very old 30."
SpaceCity ... yeah it certainly is fun to speculate... I would love to see the Rockets get more of a presence in the paint, but I really do not want the Rockets to even consider taking on a fat contract like that -- especially for a player who can't keep his weight down and was recently talking about retirement in a few years.
If we were in the top half of the playoff bracket right now, and Chuck was gone, but we had no other injuries I'd say 'yes'. But, the truth is this is a rebuilding year, and Kemp doesn't fit into that plan. And, I've been lobbying for Kemp for a few years now, but it's too late. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
I would not want a Shawn Kemp on the Houston Rockets. He's not the best role model in the NBA. All women should be on the look out when Kemp's in town.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
That is all. ------------------ Jen Next round of Nelson vs. Malone: February 24 @ Reunion Arena
Kemp was a great player for a brief time, now is a good player. He would have been a great fit 1-3 years ago. But we don't want any more players like that for a long time. We want good players who can be great, or bad players that can be good, there is no turning back now.
and ya'll are forgetting the fact that he said he'll retire after his contract is over. ------------------ johnny "red" kerr:i'm glad the bulls did'nt draft steve francis. dan roan: why!!!!! johnny red kerr:because he would forever be compared to michael jordan.
