Thanks for all those videos. Scola looks much better with his long hair. Maybe because I'm used to watching alot of Kempes, Caniggia on TV
His defense is average by European standards. He is foul prone (not as much as he used to), and I see him being called a lot of "rookie fouls" in his first season. He won't shut down any of those players, but I think he could do a decent job. The fouls are what I fear the most.
scola is better than hayes...are depth is top 5 in the league...we need 3rd seed or higher and that will happen now....pray for health.
So... denniscd, what do you think the Rockets are working on next besides re-signing Hayes? There's still a lot more bodies to sort out on the roster-- mostly end of bench guys, but still gotta be sorted out. Also, what do you think of Scola's rebounding?
Didn't find it anywhere else: Scola's interview when he was working out with the Suns before 2002 NBA Draft. http://www.nba.com/suns/news/qa_scola.html
To be completely accurate, you must hate the Spurs with a seething passion that burns hotter than a thousand exploding stars. Or maybe that is just me.
While I have no doubt Scola will eventually be much better than Hayes. But hope everyone keep this in perspective -- I expect him to struggle early on next season, As good as the Euroleague, NBA is a whole new beast for him, it will take some time for him to adapt. So just don't get too upset if he comes in and does not perform well next season...
I think if we can get him...it'll definetely be plus plus plus.... since in reality, he really doesn't have to be all that great and mostly an average run of the mill pf. We've already got two all-stars, three scorers - James, Wells, and Snyder. So he won't have to worry about beating people off the dribble or going one on one, if he can...that would be unbelievable. Thing is he will be up against the creme of the crop - Duncan, Garnett, Nowitzki, Brand, and etc. But still, we do have Yao, so opposing teams will have even tougher time against Houston if we have PF who is legitimate threat and kinda somewhat bodied them up on defense. Which means teams can double Yao as much especially given the offensive stragedy of our new head coach?
You guys think the whole BBS is being a little too optimistic about him? We haven't even seen the guy play once in the NBA.
I'd imagine that SonicFans is going crazy about Kevin Durant, and they haven't seen him play once in the NBA.
Neither have Greg Oden, Kevin Durant and every other draft pick out there. What this guy did though, was help the Argentinian national team pwn the USA team at the 2004 olympics. That USA team had Tim Duncan, Carlos Boozer, Shawn Marion, Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. I think that is as close to NBA experience as one can get.
