Interpol's back with their third album, Our Love to Admire. It was released on July 10, 2007. I think its fair to say this has been the most anticipated release of the year thus far. The album is very dark in comparison to their first two works. I think its better than Antics. My favorite tracks are Pioneer to the Falls, Rest My Chemistry, Mammoth, and No I in Threesome, other than the first single Heinrich Maneuver. Anyone listened to the album yet? <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HsZr_jijdrA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HsZr_jijdrA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pFGrP33z85w"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pFGrP33z85w" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ze4pmepXn4o"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ze4pmepXn4o" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Clearly, their first album was a "flash in the pan," so to speak. The popular music scene was ripe for a mainstream-ish exposure to a glimpse into the dark history of "alternative" music -- read: Joy Division. Everything Interpol has done since hasn't exactly shown anything new. In fact, it's become somewhat formulaic. In my opinion...
I like the album but I also agree with futants. I think I was expecting more. I thought The National's album was better for music in the genre. I still wish Interpol was playing ACL...saw them at Austin Music Hall during the Antics tour and they are fantastic live.
I absolutely love it. Took a couple listens because it is so different than antics, but nonetheless a great album. I wish they were comming to Austin.
i absolutely loved there first album. could not get into antics at all though except a song or two. maybe this one will be different.

Absolutely LOVE the album...but I'm a hardcore Interpol fan. That means I really, really love everything they put down. This album is fantastic. Exactly what I dig.
100% in-line with the futants on this. Antics blew. What I've heard from the new album is nothing new.
Have not gotten the new album but will go pick it up ASAP. I love Antics, I think it's much better than their first, and already have tickets for the Houston concert.
for me, i could never get over how they sounded like joy division would have sounded if joy division sucked. sorry, not a fan at all.
i like joy division. i grew up listening to them and new order. but in my opinion interpol is better then them. well maybe music wise about the same, but lyrics i think interpol is much more clever.
as i said, they just sound like a joy division cover band. it's prolly my loss, i usually have a pretty open mind but i just can't seem to get into them. can you post some lyrics by them that you think are good? thanks.
On a similar note, has anyone checked out the new Editors album? Alot of people said Editors tried to sound too much like Interpol on their first album, The Back Room. Think of a more melodic Interpol. I liked it alot though, in fact one of my favourites of 2006. Editors new album( An End has a Start) is quite good, and has taken a divergence from sounding like Interpol.
All sounds like Joy Division rip off to me. But hey, Joy Division isn't putting out any records, so I'll listen to Interpol instead. I like it.
Swoot! Got my tickets to the show just now. Can't WAIT! BTW- For those of you who are fans, please check out The National, especially their album "Alligator." One freaking amazing album.
I'm a big fan of The National. I like Alligator better than their new album Boxer, even though Boxer has put them on the national stage. They are huge in the NYC scene, but for some reason they couldn't sell out a 250 person venue in their home state of Ohio quite recently.
