I think I am about to overcome my bout with cynicism. Sign him up and I am healed! More talent. This team has needed talent for sooooo long. A "real" supporting cast for Yao and TMac, that is all I have ever asked for. Give them a chance!

Amen to that. Utterly pathetic. Hopefully, a new beginning for Team Rockets.

The bulk of our MLE will be used to sign Scola.

That's why the Spurs signed him but he quickly became a bust for them and wound up buried on the bench. Has one more year left at $2.35 mill I believe so he won't break the bank. Take a look at what Morey had to say about Butler:

GM speak if I ever saw it. He'll get the same shot that Reece Gaines got.

I'm so impressed with harris. I hope he makes it on the roster and landry goes to the nbdl. The downside to that is we would have two 6'6 power forwards. Also, every list is missing novak. He's not impressive thus far, but There's always room for a shooter on Adalmen's squad.

Adelman's system requires big men with good passing ability. He has this now with Yao and Scola. Both are excellent passers for their respective positions and both can play from high post. Add Tmac to the system who is a tremendous passer and you end up with a smooth offense. Guards and forwards on rockets will be cutting and getting layups all day if offense is executed properly. Expect the players to take couple of months to get used to each other and the new system though.

As I said before, league pass for the entire season will finally be worth the $$ for Rocket fans.

About 20 years ago, Spurs sold Vernon Maxwell to Rockets for cash.

Hopefully, Scola has some Vernon in him.

I don't know about the great rebounder part, but we know that Hayes is a ball magnet so between the two of them we'll be good in that position. I think he'll turn out to be more banger than you think but he is perfect for this team.

    I'm stoked.

    Great move.

Even taking on Butler is alright as we can use what we can get if Yao needs to take a break at some point in the season. The extra fouls are always handy and his contract is a short one for us.

We have trade assets left and so something good can still happen and we are suddenly looking alright as the roster stands.

get in shape, Bonzi... damn. look out.

I just hope at the end of the day, we didn't land a flopper to our team. I hate floppers.

"Teams are not permitted to make offers until the deal is complete, but the Rockets will likely have to offer between $3 million and $3.5 million for the first year. Morey would not discuss the parameters of the deal he has in mind."

That's a lot less than the $5.5 million MLE. This could be an amazing deal. If we sign him, look for us to cut Sura instead of trading him to keep us under the luxury tax, probably cut Lucas or dump him for nothing, and be done for the summer (other than signing Hayes and Deke). That would be a good offseason.

Somewhere in China, while sitting down for tea and dim sum, Shane Battier just shed a tear.

Cut Butler a little slack. After all, he's only 22 years old. Just days ago, we were clamoring for another 22 year old... Darko. Granted, unlike Darko, Butler wasn't the #2 pick (and yes, he's not a PF), but he makes a hell of a lot less money and is the same age. If Darko has "potential" at 22, why not Butler?

Oh, and DaDakota faints. (Sorry, had to get that in before the V-Span threads get moved to the NBA Dish.)
