I Just Got Into a Theological/Political Discussion with my Masseuse

    So I'm on the massage bench getting my shoulder and back worked on in only my boxers and my massage therapist starts talking to me about something. He's your classic upper west side 50-year old white ultra liberal hippie Buddhist/New Age/whatever who massages men for a living, I'm a social conservative Baptist who only got a male therapist because he's the best at what he does.

    We go over topics like abortion, homosexuality, etc.

    It was a very pleasant discussion actually, despite the fact that we were at complete opposite ends of the spectrum. We got into it quite heatedly over the topic of homosexuality, while he was massaging my lower back.

    I thought the situation was quite funny. :D

    I find it's usually easier to have these discussions with people who are MOST polar opposite from me. Because at some point, assuming we're both being cordial, you realize that you fundamentally see the world in a different way...and that's the source of the disagreement. You sort of agree to disagree and move on. I have a fair number of friends like that...and I'm always looking for more.

    It's the people who agree with me on MOST THINGS...but disagree with me slightly on certain issues that I end up arguing with the most.

    yes it did, theres a nerve attached to it that runs along your thigh to the knees. He happened to touch that nerve while stretching out my hamstring

    i agree, I can wind up arguing for hours over some stupid little thing with my friends :D I guess thats why Deacons meetings take 4 hours lol

    no doubt. you have different expectations for people in your church than you do for other people.

    (D&D sidebar: plus, we've too far clouded Jesus Christ with dogma and doctrine to argue over)
